Has anybody here seen Dave Chapelle's Block Party? I saw it last night and noticed the Mr. T-looking dude he got up on the stage to freestyle was wearing a Free Tibet t-shirt. That's good exposure when you think how many people musta seen that film. Dave worked it into his rhyme saying "Free Tibet? Aint no niggas in Tibet!"

Still, all coverage is good coverage right?

Mr T is currently promoting Snicker (Marathon) bars here in Britain with the slogan - "Get some nuts fools"

For those interested in the plight of the Tibetan people during the year of the olympics in China....

- Bjork was in the paper (here in the UK) yesterday as apparently she'd voiced some of her concerns over the Tibetan occupation WHILST PERFORMING IN SHANGHAI!!!

Well, looks like I spoke too soon.

I'm certainly not hugely knowledgable on the broader situation going on in China/Tibet at the moment but I do live on planet earth and it appears the shit is hitting the fan over there a bit right now.:(

I can only hope for a peaceful resolution to come about soon but at the same time I'd hate to be a peace-loving Tibetan having to cope with the Chinese authorities and their extremely frightening human-rights record.

I really hope China's take on human rights and environmental responsibility improves massively as they emerge as the world's leading super-power.

Sorry to sound bleak.

unfortunately it is quite bleak-particularly when it comes to Tibet. I read a book years ago-i think it was called tears of blood or something similar which was about chinas' taking over of Tibet and i was so shocked that the events described had happened in the middle of the twentieth century-it was all SO barbaric. Also,i asked myself,as i still do now-where the fuck is the rest of the world?? So Tibet may not be oil-rich or have much to offer anyone else to warrant decent worldwide(proper) support-not just a few half-arsed pathetic comments. To everyone living under this shadow, those who are losing their lives in the struggle for freedom and everyone involved in the campaign to free Tibet i send hope and strength.

Very sorry about that - it's hard not to sound pathetic about situations like this.

Actions speak louder than words - I encourage everyone to write to their government representatives, support the Milarepa fund, support Amnesty International, talk to people - spread the knowledge of what's going on and encourage them to get involved too.

Do the research - boycott the companies that are fuelling the corruption, exploitation and warfare all over the world, talk to people about THE OLYMPICS and the potential that we have this year to put pressure on China to clean up it's act.

Sorry - this board/thread was quiet as hell just a couple of weeks ago - with what's going on RIGHT NOW this board should be buzzing off the hook.

Get up, get into it, get involved.

china is moving forward and not looking back, there's not stopping them. i heard about a large city that they are designing from the ground up and its pretty intelligently thought up, and will be a good model for sustainable cities- if there is such a thing. they have also done so cool work in chengdu with constructed wetlands and wastewater treatment. so they arent totally neglecting it, just not implementing it. they are growing too fast.
as for human rights, i hope all this international attention has a positive affect. as china does grow, it will probably become more of an open society- by open, meaning journalism and access to information...that is one positive step for tibetans.
