i just want to change the title of this thread
http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=77567

to march 31 instead of 17

thanks :)

also why can't we edit posts after a certain amount of time? its a really bad idea, what if you have to change info you posted because it changes/is incorrect? can we get this changed please? thanks in advance!

Editing post titles require us to go into the database and manually edit unfortunately. That's a problem. I'll do it later if I get a chance. Or TPK can do it, he loves doing that kind of thing.

As for the editing...we removed unlimited editing a while ago because all it results in is a bunch of empty threads all over the place. That becomes annoying after a while for people using the boards. It's a good policy, trust us.

I didn't see TPK's post above...now I bet he's going to post a reply to this in a moment or two not having seen mine.

no moderators. we used to have them but got rid of them just so that us administrators could feel more powerful and act more fascist.

and about the limited time for editing your posts. there is a limit for a bunch of different reasons. one of them being that the edit function in our mind is there to enable a user to correct minor errors such as spelling. it's not there to enable users to change the content of a post to have a whole other meaning which would be the resulting case if we let people edit posts from days, months or even years back.

and yeah i changed the topic title (y)

sometimes i notice spelling errors a week later and i sit there cringing at the fact i can't change it.

wtf kind of admin panel do you guys have? i'm admin for a vbulletin board and to change a thread title we just go edit thread>and enter the title of our choice. no having to log into admin or anything. you should fix that.

anyway thanks for fixing my thread and answering my suggestions. may this thread join the sea of locked threads.

and yeah i'm not sure what minton was talking about, like you said, it's fairly easy to edit a thread and not at all necessary to do so via the database. the only thing that doesn't get edited though is the subject line for all replies to the thread since that is stored separately as straight up text.

Shit, turns out I didn't read most of this thread before I replied the first time. All of it in fact. My bad. This is why we pay you the big bucks, TPK.
