Its gonna be dope. I hope he pulls some new rabbits from his hat..... I am sure it wont be too crowded so I can probably get a chance to talk to him and maybe sneak a few questions in about the new album. The venue is bunk, but I gotta support. Anyone in the area, want to meet there?

Sick show...the venue wasn't my favorite, but MMM was in top form.
I actually met someone who was a VIP there, and she just wanted the free scwag Mike was supposedly going to give away, and I just wanted to meet him. So she let me go backstage for her...turns out the "free schwag" was just an autographed poster....that he really personalized for me when he autographed it.
I was able to get a pic with Mike, but the douche bag bouncer that took it didn't hold my phone still, and it came out blurry.
I chatted with him for a bit...I asked him if he knew when the new Beastie album would drop...and he gave me one of those "I know it but I just can't say it" looks...so I didn't press it.
I got back and met up with the girl that let me go in her stead...and she accused me of pocketing all the schwag! Oh well...good night for the most part....great show.
Anyone else go?

MMM spun everything from Outkast, to Franz Ferdinand, to Nirvana, to Rage Against The Machine....the crowd seemed to love the Beastie stuff he did in particular. He's extremely talented....I've seen him with the Beasties before, but this is my first time seeing him solo...he's really perfected what he does. I was quite impressed.
And to anyone who went (anyone?) I was the really tall guy in the center near the front...I had on a Grey Beastie Boys hat and a Navy Blue hoodie.

Nice report. Did you notice if he had crates of vinyl or if he was using the laptop? I saw him perform solo in Nov. 05 and he used the laptop. He's good, but I think prefer him diggin' for the vinyls.

Mike had a nice laptop next to the 1's and 2's...he was quite quick going back and forth between it...
Diggin' for the vinyls brings a bit of nostaliga, so I know what'cha mean...
Also...they were very strict on the no pictures policy...I only managed to get a couple crappy ones before I put the camera away. If anyone else got decent pics, please share! :)

okay first off I am lame and missed it. I kinda knew the venue was going to be wack and also it was promoted by Camel / z100 (wack ass corporate radio station).... Also $20 at the door seems high for a ghetto dance club on the eastside of town.
Anyways regarding his live set it sounds like he plays the same thing he used to drop (scratching and mixing each one in with finesse) I agree he is great but I saw him 2 shows in a row once and the set was pretty much the same. (did he: drop in the Natural Born Killaz song from Murda was the case? Plus the Rage Against the Machine was also standard, and scratching up 3 mcs beat and maybe droppin Alive?) sound familiar. He does have a knack to grab new beats that are hot and mix them up, but he mostly does that on tour with the BBoys. [For a great listen I might post up the MMM live in Kansas City mp3.... its sick and a perfect example of the set he plays. And the KC one is from 1998....]
Overall it sounds like it would have been fun to see mike, but No Pictures? Thats wack? I think he had that same thing at his last show. At The first show I saw him was in Eugene (with swollen memberS) and when it was over all the kids lieft and i just casually approached Mike and asked him to sign my Anti Theft Device record. He did personally sign it for me. I chatted for a bit and told him I was jealous he was in the Beastie Boys. He was really cool and very friendly. Its too bad bouncers like to power trip when fans just want to say hi to an artist. Mike is a dope guy with lots of skills, and for most of us the closest thing we will ever get to any of the Beastie Boys. Glad someone went. The only report back I have gotten was cover was too high and it was the weirdest show they have been to in a while. wtf does wierd mean?
so if i can find them I will put the Eugene pictures I have of Mike up and also the Kansas City DVD.
Any other reviews of the show...?
