I've come over all a-z!
Scanners, Dead Ringers, Rabid, Videodrome. I even liked Crash (although mostly because James Spader was in it)
Favourite Cronenberg films anyone?

Dead Ringers, The Fly, Naked Lunch, The Dead Zone, History of Violence. I think those are my favorites, in that order. Dead Ringers is really hard to watch, though.
When that came out, I saw it with a couple of (guy) friends and it blew me away. But when I talked to my girlfriend about it and she said she wanted to see it, I said absolutely not. I've never done that before or since, but I just knew it would be too too much for her. I wonder if she ever saw it.
Trivia: a script of mine was at Cronenberg's production house for a while. Max von Sydow was interested in starring in it if Cronenberg was going to do it. I still have a letter from von Sydow about it, and telling me he did think it was a kind of talky script. :D
Anyway, M. Butterfly flopped and they decided not to do it. I think they thought he was going to do television for a bit.

I was kinda weirded out by the non-horrorness of Dead Zone, but it is still a good movie. My fave is Naked Lunch, no doubt.

Not even the scissors/bathtub bit?
Christopher Walken was really, really great in that. One of my favorite performances of his, and one of the few good Stephen King movies.

Oh where they walk upstairs w the cops mum? OK, that was creepy. But later it was much like a Twilight Zone episode.

It was the killer's mom, and the killer's locked himself in the bathroom and strategically taped some scissors to the tub so he can kill himself. Johnny (Walken) is trying to get past the mom who's trying to keep the police out and he touches her and realizes she knew what her son had been doing. They break into the bathroom right after he's impaled himself on the scissors and is still twitching in the tub; Johnny comes back out and the mom shoots him and an officer shoots her, killing her.

Jewison may be the most accredited, Cameron the most accesible,Atom Egoyan and Don Mckellar are stellar,Michael Dowse the kid to watch, but Cronenberg is the best Canadian filmmaker around...I wish he would have kept up with the cameo appearances ala Hitchcock in his movies…..he seemed to stop when Shyamalan started ….coincidence?….I think not!....Trivia: he's really ,really good friends with Geddy Lee....(y)
