I feel like I'm being an ass and spamming the board (with a whopping two threads) but anyway, I'm hopefully going to go to uni in England, and I'm taking the SAT in May, so any tips would be helpful. And because I know someone will ask, no, I am not saying which uni, because I will be living with a former board member if I do get in and he would not appreciate me telling the interwebs of his whereabouts.:p :o

Have you thought about taking a review course?
Do English schools accept SAT results?

Yeah, the one I'm going to does. I technically don't need to take it. I'm going to major in archaeology, and I took it in high school, so that will (I have been told) be enough. BUT since I really want to get in, I want to take the SAT anyway. I'm also gonna take the ACT, but I've already taken a few practice tests for that one and kick ass. It's just the SAT thathas me a bit freaked out. It's pretty tough. I have got my score up from 1300 (SAT I, not II, btw) to 1800 (1300 is the minimum I can get and still get in). But still, want to do really well.

as far as i recall, you are several years out from where most people take the SATs. i could be wrong, of course.
if you're good at math, you've got nothing to worry about. find one of those books where you get a DVD and take lots of practice tests. otherwise, if you're bad at math, try to brush up on the basics in algebra, statistics, geometry and advanced stuff in regular math (like the word problems that require a rocket scientist to translate).

I'm 24. I haven't decided if the age thing is good or bad. I haven't sat on my ass staring at the TV all this time, but all the studying I've done since graduating high school has beem stuff that I enjoy, so it wouldn't necessarily help. I dunno. I've always done well on tests, just need to brush up on math a bit. I've read up on the test taking tips, like "rule out any answer you know is wrong", etc. but it's usually down to two answer (in the math section) that I'm just unsure of.

ah. well, if it's down to 2, you go with your first instinct every time.
and yeah, math is going to be your only issue, but there are a lot of really good prep programs available at the store with the DVDs, that explain the answers. kaplan makes a good one, as far as i recall.
