It's looking like Ima have to get an Ipod. I'm looking at an 80gb which will be very beneficial to me for everyday usage.

I take the train everyday to work and I've got a c.d. player but I'm tired of lugging that around and my cds.

While at work, I've got alot of time to watch movies and being that the Ipod is so compact, it's perfect for my job.

Lost in the tech world I am, I really don't know of any other device that would suit my needs. If ya'll can give me some links to other gadgets than Ipods, pleeease feel free.

i love my iPod. it's easy to use, and has not cause me any problems at all. bobby wanted one by creative, so i got him the 30GB zen that plays videos, and he loves it.

my kids both have iPods and they don't have any problems with theirs either.

you're gonna get way more anti iPod responses than you would anti-anything else. there are issues with every sort of player. see if creative makes one that has the same gigs and everything else you'll be getting with the iPod, and then compare reviews.

i do love that pretty much all docking stations are made with iPods in mind, and don't require an additional attachment to make it fit; not so with bobby's zen.

Yeah, that's the thing. Will I ever have enough stuff to fill up the whole 80 gigs? Not at this moment but, I don't want to have to delete stuff when I finally reach the last gig.

I've been searching and I don't see any other brand that puts out more gigs atm.

My wife has a 60 gig Ipod and she's got movies and over 2,000 songs on it and plenty of space for more.

Have a 4 gig Sansumg that looks like this (http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US/images/products/7994/7994879_ra.jpg) it's sleeker, more user friendly and delivers very good to excellent sound, I've had it since Xmas. Works so good 3 other people from work got one, my brother bought one and the neighbor bought one, It's really good. The iPod is good but this one is better. I know, because I have an iPod too, haven't used it sib=nce the samsung.

Don't take my word for it, take the ggeks word for it on cnet (http://reviews.cnet.com/Samsung_YP_T9_4GB_black/4505-6499_7-32081083-2.html?tag=rate)

I had a 40g Gigabeat for about a year and when I dropped it for what turned out to be the last time, I succumbed (sp?) to the ipod phenomenon and bought myself the nice and shiny black 80g. And I have to admit, I love it. It's easy to use, itunes is much easier to manage than the previous stuff I have. I haven't used it for videos etc but I suspect I will. And yes, I know a lot of people have had problems with them but I'm willing to give them a fair run. And my sister's bloke has had his replaced for free, twice when he's had problems.

It looks fairly promising, however, I can only find it in 30gb. It has a built in radio too but I never listen to it. The screen is nice compared to the Ipod.

If it only had 80gbs... Hmmm.

Personally I like my turntable set-up.Infinite memory, mostly easy to carry and gigantic screens for videos (y)

yes the video ipod is pretty sweet, i have one in 30gb in black. but lately its been freezing up, i'm going to have to start taking better care of that thing since i use it everyday & i have to recharge almost everyday. also the back silver part gets scratched up really easy but besides that, its really cool(y)

i have a creative zen micro (5gb) and when it broke, their customer service which they said was great really was horrible. they told me to do a few things that probably should have worked, but it never did. i had to go through a lot just to get anyone to really respond, and then replying to them didnt really do anything

i wish i had money to fix it or get something new, because i miss having the tunes whenever i am wandering around

do you have a mobile phone? i'm too poor for an mp3 player so just use the radio on my phone, and if i had a bigger memory card i could load a bunch of mp3s on it too.

my phone was the free one i got when i signed up a couple years ago. its really crappy and does nothing more than make phone calls and the occasional text message.

Yeah, I've got a mobile phone with mp3 capabilities but I listened to a few songs on it with the headphones and it just sounds awful.

 pretty much sums that up. Looks nice but over 1,000 bones is a little too steep for me.

Two of my friends had bad problems with taking their iPods jogging. If they're jostled around too much, they'll freeze up and stop working, and resetting them doesn't work. Both had to take them into the store for repair. If you get it, definitely get the warranty.

I have a 6gb Zen Micro and I love it to death. I've had it for two years and it's still running strong. It was between the Zen Micro and the iPod mini (I don't use that much space, I still have about 25% empty), and I realized the Micro was $50 cheaper and I got 2 more gigs of space. So just do a little research beforehand, I suppose.

While we're on the topic, you know what I don't get? My friend got the iPod Nano when it came out, she got 2 gigs for $200 I believe. What's the deal? I mean, she could have gotten so much more space out of another mp3 player, but she said she wanted the nano because it was cool. It just seemed kinda wasteful, she could have gotten more bang out of her buck in my opinion.

My friend got one of those for free just for opening a bank account with pnc bank.

Ok, I'm down to two that I'm choosing from. I've decided that I don't want an Ipod just because.

So far, it's either an Archos 504 (http://www.shoparchos.com/product.aspx?sku=3083073&culture=en-US) or a Creative Zen vision W 60 gig (http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=213&subcategory=214&product=15752)

beth got me the 30 gig zen vision m for xmas and it's exactly what i wanted.

i did a tonne of research before deciding that was the one i wanted. i've been rocking it 3 days a week since xmas on the ride to work and it hasn't let me down yet. i probably only charge it once every 7-10 days. fuck all these bullshit ipod accessories for real. a docking station? here's an idea: anything with rca inputs can play it just fine. ipod can eat a fat stack of cocks.

my only complaint with the zen is that they included white earbuds, like the ipod. i've got a free pair coming from Parliment that look like shure but for sure don't sound like shures. i'll rock em until they are rockless.

on the capacity angle: by the time you've got your 80g filled to capacity, the newest hottest new thing'll be out for $149 and have a tera-byte of storage a hologram-asma-aser screen that projects a drive-in size screen on any wall with 1080 dpi and a built in popcorn maker.

you cannot lose with the zen. the archos is pretty slick but i don't think it is as dependable. when a gadget attempts to be a jack of all trades it usually is a master of none.

creative labs zen 60 gets my vote all day. good luck with your purchase.

I'd pay good money for that!

Well, it's looking like it's going to be the Archos. I work some long damn hours and I just sit there and having the video capabilities that it has, it would be very suitable for my boredom.

The Creative is also great but being that the Archos can record t.v. it wins my vote because there's alot of shows that I've been missing while I'm at work. I know it's kind of like a tivo function but I don't have tivo and I'm not planning on getting it.

Archos PMP is a nice little gadget, have you thought about the Slacker yet? I like it's display, but I' not much for the services and taste recognition stuff.

I haven't heard of the slacker as well as the Archos but being that it does what it does I'll give it a stab. I'm getting a warranty in case it craps up on me.
