Yay!

Hello All,

With unbridled enthusiasm for the June release of 'Icky Thump', NME.com has printed a North American tour routing that holds no semblance of reality. Indeed, it looks like their journalists simply found and printed the tour routing the band did in support of their 2005 release, 'Get Behind Me Satan'.

In fact, The White Stripes have yet to confirm their North American routing as of yet. But we are happy to say that it will include all 10 provinces and 3 territories of Canada, as well as the remaining 16 states of the United States the band have yet to play. A few major markets that have been journeyed to in the past will be also be included.

The North American tour will start in the state of Tennessee.

Best Regards,
The White Stripes Management

3 territories of Canada??

All 3 territories in Canada have a combined population of about 100 000, and are far from fuck all. That statement makes me question the validity of the remark.

I could see them wanting to go out on a limb and play Whitehorse, Yukon and Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, but playing Nunavut? What venues would they have in their biggest town? An industrial strength igloo?

But if they're gonna come to Edmonton (DON'T play Reds, play Starlite or New City or Winspear or somewhere), fuck yeah! (y)

I agree eh.

I live in Winnipeg and we've been lucky to get some huge acts come through in the last year or two, clapton is coming up, roger waters, van morrisson, even Christina Augulera.. but were hungry for more acts like the White Stripes. Interpol is coming which is a good start.

Have they? I'd have to look.

Sometimes, though, it seems like they give something a bad review just to be contrary. I've seen reviews on there for stuff where they pretty much say "This is so well--reviewed we're obligated to pan it."

The Pitchfork review is an unpredictable beast. If I see something get around the 7-ish rating, I figure chances are high that it's good, and they're attempting to be reasonable. As far as my best recollection, the Stripes usually are 7's or 8's in the Pitchfork world, and that's not half bad.

Icky Thump on vinyl (http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=112807) (the entire album):
So, the new White Stripes album is delivered on four master reels of analog tape. (Jack is an audiophile and loves recording and mixing in analog.) In Nashville (where this new album was recorded) the engineer used a special tape recorder with a gigantic one inch width tape to capture the mix........The tapes by the way sound wonderful; very dynamic, big gigundo bass drum, great punchy sounds.Unfortunately the CD version will almost certainly be mastered* to sound better when heard via 96kbps MP3 files, $5 earbuds or a laptop's 1" speakers, so most of that punchy & dynamic sound will be lost.

BTW: big Warner/Reprise/Elektra vinyl reissue series (http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=112018) coming.

* by someone else - Steve Hoffman won't do the "modern" things to music that make it sound bad on home audio systems

I was lucky enough to see the stripes on a bus on July 2nd. You can check out the video if you search "white stripes winnipeg" on youtube. or click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOl1e5FRAUc

I can also post a shoutout to the msg board on youtube if I need to prove I shot that lol.

whoops forgot to post about the concert.

it was unreal.
I loved every second of it, and it was outside and the noise was just ridiculous

and they even had custom amps for this tour that were white with a red maple leaf on them

The only live stuff I've heard of there's is the Glasgow Lights (?) DVD. Just an electric blues noise freakout in great hands.

What was your show like?

HEIRESS

It was a straight up hit parade. threw in goodies from all the albums
though they only played 3 songs from the new album

and the sound quality was awesome.
I respect them even more now because of their ability to reproduce their sound so well in concert, outdoor no less.
