You've seen bootlegs for much cheaper. I've never seen an original CM vinyl go for less than 100

if those are real then indeed it is a sweet deal
the location of the item might give a hint that it indeed is real
wonder if you can somehow get your money back if its not

I've looked at his past feedback and I do believe that indeed these are the real meal deals. I wish I could afford more than one at this point.

The only way to know if they are the real deal is if the bottom of the back cover says "The Round-Up Factor". If they do not include that, they are fakes.

Speaking of Country Mike, anybody here know what the deal is with the different picture shown on the vinyl edition of SOUNDS OF SCIENCE. For those that don't know, it's a different picture of the front cover. Mike is instead wearing a vest, white shirt, & a black tie. Does anyone know if this different cover was ever released?

6 fakes (!)

A) Astrobboy already bought 5 of em back in February
B) Astrobboy has been in the game for long enought to know the bootleg from the real deal
C) Astrobboy left positive feedback (i.e. he got the records and they're legit)
D) They're comming from Atwater, where Grandroyal was headquartered
E) Dude was selling other Grandroyal records that had stickers and other indicators that they were legitimate presses.

So what am I missing here? They're real.

I know that Mission Fish is legit. So, taking that into account, you think he's bootlegging, not only Country Mike LPs, but also other Grandroyal LPs too, including recreating the stickers that go on the shrink, and instead of selling them for high prices he could get for them and pocketing all of the money he's selling through Mission Fish where he has to give up 30% to charity? Not only that but his bootlegs are fooling experienced collectors who have legitmate pressings to compare with?

i am just going to request more pictures from the guy, if he can give me a picture of the back of the album, that will be good evidence for me

Well those records are gone now...
I asked for the pics a few hours ago as well, as well for the weird postages to Sweden, and he answered within minutes. Pity I couldn't afford it right now, there's some travelling to do....

Can anyone send me this record on MP3? Either by rapidshare/sendspace/mediafire/yousendit etc?

$50 is a great price for this.....I wonder if this is Mike D's ebay account?

Red vinyl = real OG pressing
black = repress

my guess is that if Astrobboy bought 5 copies AND left positive feedback they are the real deal holyfield. That record is very rare. The bootleg is not rare, and the music, is not hard to find.

Actually there are official Black Vinyl copies as well.

You can check the boots vs legits with this: http://www.beastiemania.com/collector/bootlegs/bootlegscountrymike.php

AstroBBoy,
Having said that. Were the 5 copies you bought from this eBay seller on black or red vinyl?

AstroBBoy,
Since you're such a big collector, maybe you can help answer this or have heard something. I threw this question out there earlier in this thread & no one responded. I didn't find any info about it over at Beastiemania either. Do you know what the deal is with the different Country Mike cover shown on the vinyl edition of SOUNDS OF SCIENCE. It's a different pic with Mike instead wearing a vest, white shirt, & a black tie. Was this different cover ever released or have you heard any info about it?

I could be very wrong here, but I was under the impression there has been another printing, fairly recently.

As far as I know there have been no cover variations. (though I would love to be wrong)

I am pretty sure the black vinyl is very rare. I have a black copy but its a bootleg. I would trade for a red. IMO when they decided to produce this album they wanted to make it rare and exclusive ie using red vinyl. If you find a black Original I would say that its gotta be very rare test pressing. Next time I am in Los Angeles I will check Amoeba. I found so many Beastie Boys records it was crazy. The people who are going to get this one are going to be diggers. For real.

I have the BS2000 pink, which is one of my favorites. My friend bought it off the site in the late 90s. BS 2000++++

I have a copy of the real one on black vinyl. I've seen the black and red Country Mikes on eBay in approximately equal proportions since way back when when it first came out. I'm talking about the real versions, not the multitude of bootlegs.

The Country Mike bootlegs have all been on black vinyl so far and so far they've been easily distinguishable from the real ones. Your chances of finding and authentic copy in the record store are very very slim. I've seen the bootlegs all over the place.

BS 2000 originally came out in black vinyl. It was later repressed on pink swirled vinyl directly from Grand Royal.

I don't think anyone has ever addressed this. I've only seen it on the Sounds of Science in the vinyl version. It looks like it might be something they were thinking about using for the back cover but opted not to.

If I'm not mistaken, there is a picture of Coutry Mike in the same outfit on a promo single for "Alive".

i am really kicking myself. i stop doing ebay searches on beastie boys for 2 months, and look what happens!!!!!!

now i have definitely given up all hope of securing a copy. which is a shame, cuz i own about 90% of the rest of their catalogue!

me losing out on a copy makes the baby jesus cry. and me.

It's the real deal. Beautiful red vinyl copy. I had to open mine though, couldn't resist as I had never even heard the album before. I just finished listening through for the fist time, and I actually really love it.
