I'm not sure what to do so I'm posting in case you ladies have gone through the same thing or something similar.
I haven't had my period in 3 months now, getting closer to 4.
It's not due to pregnancy. And sure I guess I've had stress but nothing extreme. Regardless, my doctor put me on these hormone pills to hopefully get my period started. I have 3 days left on these pills.
And I feel completely fucking depressed. I mean beyond. I am sitting here at work trying not to cry and the thing is, I don't cry. One of the side effects for this drug IS depression so I guess it makes sense. But I cannot stand this.
I can't go exercise because the pain in my lower stomach (it gets worse with movement). I've been doing things I love, like making art for instance and doing that last night didn't even help. I'm not sure what else I can do. Do I just have to deal with it until the pills are done?
Because I am literally having trouble getting out of bed, I've been late every day now. I can barely function like a normal human being. I just want to sleep all day and all night and just not face the world. It's even affecting my work. I'm too depressed that I see myself slipping up on things and the work piles higher and I just don't care. I'm not sure I should stay on these pills but then, there's only 3 days left and I still haven't started my period.
I've never ever been like this :/

It's always worth taking another pregnancy test if there's a remote risk of it. I didn't make the two lines appear until nearly two months gone, but if you're really sure, and it's the stress causing it, that needs to be dealt with head on.
Start a yoga class or something, that can not only help mentally but the physical movement of yoga can help your cycle as certain poses increase blood supply and activity of the pelvic basin and it's contents.
It also be down to nutrition. A lack of vit C can cease ovulation and is linked to missing periods, and B6 and zinc are also important. You also need a certain amount of body fat to menstruate, so if you've not been eating properly in general, tackle it from that area and get some vitamin pills.
If you are still unhappy and you feel like you've tried everything, go back to your doctor, tell them all about the pain and don't leave until you are happy. They do not know everything and are there to serve you, and if you want more tests then ask for them. If you want a second opinion, ask for that.
You should have been given a pelvic exam, and if these pills haven't worked then you need to get tested to see what hormones are out of whack.
One thing worth bearing in mind is that chlamydia and other infections can cause missed periods, so ask for a swap to rule out all all of them. The sooner you get treated for things like that, the better.
Good luck;)

agh, i have to leave work and go to the gym, but it sounds sort of what i was going through. i didn't have my period for 6/7 weeks. and i had crushing pains in my lower left abdomen. i got my period, eventually, though, and went back on the pill and hence 'regulated' myself, again, i guess, so it's not a problem anymore. are you on the pill?
i was worried i was pregnant so bad. a certain person here was the greatest help  i took a test and made the DUH, stupid mistake of looking at it again in the morning when it CHANGED FUCKING RESULT to pregnant. i fell to my knees and almost spewed right there and then. well, i have since learned that you should always discard tests after use, you idiot, claire, because it dries and science and blah and blah and blah. anyway. i got soooo freakin worried (i couldn't get an appointment with the doctor until about 4 days later) that i think that scared my period off even more, hah.
turns out i got my period on the exact same day i went to the doctor. hah. so i didn't have to go through any of these shitty drugs you are :( at least keep going until the pills are completed, you've come this far. then see what the craic is.

thanks all.
niv: I was tested for everything under the sun. The STDs, pregnancy, pelvic exam, etc.
I wish I could do that exercise/yoga. I have to wait till the pain in my stomach goes away. And I'm eating right and taking vitamins everyday, multi plus iron and 1000mg of vitamin C.
claire: I was on the pill, and had to stop so the doctor said maybe that's why my hormones are out of whack. Hence this hormone medication she put me on to start my period again and get back on the pill.
I just really can't stand how it makes me feel. When I step outside of myself I think 3 more days on these pills sound like nothing, but when I think about it more, 3 more days of this and I'll just, ugh. I can't even fathom. I wish I had more sick days I'd just shut myself off from the world for a good 3 days, then.

Hope it gets better soon. That sounds really uncomfortable. :(
Are they, like, 5 progesterone pills?
Ironically enough, I guess emotionally I'm going through the same trauma. I started taking OTC Lo (birth control) and felt as though I was going insane. Still. And I stopped taking them during my second week of the pack.
A few days later I noticed "spotting" and thought nothing of it. Then these really bad cramps came along and now this HEAVY bleeding/clotting. Like I want to pass out heavy. So I called my doc and she gave me the progesterone which will stop the bleeding and once I've finished taking them, should start an actual, NORMAL period.
I know how you feel. You could cry at the drop of a hat. EVERY LITTLE THING makes you cry or feel depressed. It sucks, and I'm sorry you have to go through this crap.
As for missing my period, I once went a good 3 months without. Same thing (emotionally), and no pregnancy. I wasn't even that stressed out.
I hope you're better soon.

yep, progesterone. 10mg for 10 days.
sorry you are going through this too. It fucking sucks.
And it makes me hate men with a firey passion because they don't get this mental anguish, not like we do anyway. ha.

I get over my emotional mood swings by picking small useless fights that turn into explosions, and then I end up locking myself in my room and crying for the rest of the evening.
I guess that's not healthy, huh? Umm. Well, 3 days does suck, but that's only 72 hours. You'll be asleep for half of that, so it's only 36 more hours!

I used progesterone cream for awhile when my hair started falling out due to taking birth control.
it didnt make me any crazier than I was before, I just stopped using it because it because I was so depressed over my hair that I just stopped doing anything in my life that would have been beneficial for me.
my mom uses natural progesterone cream to deal with her menopause symptoms and its the only thing that helps her.

it is depression, induced by the drug.
I lived for 9 years with a depressed (chemically imbalanced) person, I know.
Talk to your doctor and get off that drug.

THE PROGESTERONE IS COUNTERBALANCING YOUR OVERLOADED ENDOCRINE SYSTEM THAT HAS BEEN BOMBARDED WITH XENOESTROGENS FOUND IN THE DEVILS BIRTH CONTROL PILL
unnatrual hormone level changes take months and years to occur, not just days, and counteracting them takes just as long.

lol birth control
;( When I was on the pill I never had anything this extreme. Maybe because the sudden dosage after having nothing at all.
Talking to my doc later today though to see what other options are possible. This whole not having a period thing really does a number on a womans body, even before the medication. Good lord.

sorry girl!
the only time my periods have ever stopped (apart from being pregnant!) was from being underweight and/or doing lots of exercise. either of those 2 things cause periods to stop. if that's not you, i don't know :(
i think they got mine started again with homeopathic medicine. i can't imagine those hormones are helping your moods... and if they ain't starting your periods again then.... stop them?
poor thing.

My wife has the depoprevera shot and spotted for the better part of a year. Could that help kickstart your period?

yuck. hormones are scary. one time my mom didn't have her period for a really long time, but the lining of her uterus just kept building and building. they finally had to flash freeze it and like chip it out or something. sounds nuts. she said it hurt a lot.
why are reproductive parts so wacky? I need to go to the gyno. :(

This is the reason why I don't take things like birth control. Not saying that's what did this, but I don't like dealing with that shit in my system. I don't even take aspirin unless I'm really hurting. Pain sucks, but mystery pain really sucks. Maybe the aliens are abducting you and doing secret experiments? Sexy ones...
And Dorothy that uterus think is fucking freaky, I'm putting that in a zombie movie

i've had some very serious problems in that area, much more extreme than what you are going through (if you don't mind me saying) . i don't care to discuss them publicly. if you are really interested, maybe pm me or something.

Wow, that really sucks. I guess all I can say is try to ride it out until you get done with the medication. And if you need to be by yourself when you get home from work and just go to sleep at like 7pm then you should do that. When you get to feeling really bad just try to remember it isn't real and it'll be over soon.
I'm starting to get a little worried. I've taken birth control pills for like 10 years and I've never had these kinds of problems. I hope this isn't something I can expect to occur.
And it makes me hate men with a firey passion because they don't get this mental anguish, not like we do anyway. ha.
OMG, YES! And watching TV is the worst thing for me right now, and especially when hot girls are trotting around.
BTW; I don't know if you have a LiveJournal or not, but there's this really helpful, unbiased community for women called vaginapagina. I'm sure they'd have some useful tips for you on how to get out of this rut/deal with it for now.
