This guy's name is Il Lee (nice!). Anyway, he does these huge pieces entirely with cheap Bic pens. He orders thousands of pens at a tie, I hear. He's had to switch to blue ink now because they discontinued black ink in the cheap pens.

Anyway, these pieces are huge -- like, six, seven feet. The richness of the black is really really amazing. It doesn't look scribbly at all, but you get a great effect.

That's really cool. There was this guy, a grad student at Purdue that I saw last semester - he made these robots out of legos and remote controllers, and he set them up on pre-programmed patterns with allowances for randomness, and just let them drive across paper with a pen making patterns. Huge sheets. It took them days to finish a pattern.

a little too gimmicky for my taste, and shoddy composition, but pretty cool idea. I <3 black pens. the third one is decent.
