I saw that this morning in the paper.
What dicks NBC must be to not have let him take the character name to the show when it switched to CBS.
Intellectual Property!
I miss Chris Elliott's man under the seats.

Yeah, I know, but still. Be a fucking gentleman, you know? How much money did Letterman make for them over how many years? It's just petty.
Lets not tarnish Larry Bud's legacy.

shining example of why letterman is better than all

What makes Letterman so great in my mind is the way he treats those what have worked with him over the years. Calvert DeForrest was just a small bit actor who simply worked in acting for the joy of it, appearing in student films. When Letterman's show discovered him in a student film and asked him to come join them, he did so, thinking he was helping another small band of young talent start something up. That led to stardom. But it also caused him to forcibly leave his job as a drug counselor, due to the fame. And Letterman, in true dignified fashion, hired DeForrest full time to compensate. He continued his tradition when they all moved to CBS, with Letterman still keeping Calvert on the payroll after he could no longer physically work. He was known as one of the bright spots in the studio...a studio already full of bright spots...Calvert, like everyone, truly enjoyed working on the show...and it continues to show every single night. When he stumbled on the show, he hit the jackpot. Not in the financial sense, but in the emotional one. He became a member of a gang of friends....and member of misfits....and a televised example of the ordinary misfit that made the show so great. When he was asked to do films and music videos, he still never gained an ego. He stayed the same. The guy happy to be there. He was the anti-celebrity. The common man we would like to hang out with. And he passes on, asking for no funeral...no special attention given to him. Goodnight Larry. Farewell Calvert....we'll keep you in our hearts...And thus, I am sad. - - - George, The 7th Chicken
