Once on a lads holiday in ayia napa (don't ask), a barman offered my already drunk mate 'the strongest thing he's ever going to drink'. My mate duly obliged and the guy brought out a small bottle of what we think may have been ethanol. My mate had the smallest sip from a tiny shot glass.

If you were born without tastebuds, sample Strohrum (straw rum). It's 80% alcohol. There is a festival celebrating it near where I'm from (Frankenthal). You might have sampled some in a B52. Pure drinking not recommended.

The 2 times that I had absinthe were both completely different experiences. One of them I started getting semi visuals and felt very light bodied, while the other one i just felt really light bodied.

a friend had brought in two bottles each from Spain and France that he had been saving for special occasions. new year's day this year, i was over at his house and i didn't really feel like having more than a couple of hard ciders or beers. he said, sorry, i'm making you drunk. and so i had to try some - the teeny, tiniest, less than an ounce (probably more like half) shot - mixed with some sugar that had been caramelized on a spoon. i felt like i was about to shoot up or something. anyway, mixed it in as soon as the sugar bubbled, shot it back -

shit BURNED so hard going down. worse than tequila. worse than LIGHT BEER. it was so painful. i didn't feel anything for a few minutes, then, holy shit. screaming karaoke and a visit from the cops later...i had to be walked home. when i woke up the next morning i could only speak in a whisper and i had made an hour-long phone call to my high school ex telling him how much i hated him and so did everyone else and he had no redeeming qualities. i apologized the next morning. :o by far the worst hangover i've ever had. i still didn't feel 100% the next day. and my voice was gone for about a week and half.

i'm glad i can say i've tried it but i will never, ever do it again. if i ever see a friend tempted i'll either convince them not to, or remain sober myself so i can take care of him/her.
