So which of the Beastie Boys do ya think has aged more gracefully?

A friend told me she seen some video from one of their appearances earlier in the year and it seemed that Adrock would get really out of breath in the middle of his raps and that actually MCA seemed to still have the same style and Mike D would even come in on Adrock's raps when Adrock couldn't. Mind you - I have not seen this with my own eyes. Personally, I favor Adrock though.:)

MCA without a doubt, although I dont want to say that because they have all aged nicely.
I think Mike just went through his gangly skinny phase but I think he's over it now, idk he's been lookin' really good as of late.
Yauch has always been hot, no matter what, and I love the grey more than I love his hair dark - it gives him charecter.
And Horovitz, yeah, he still looks like he's 20 in my opinion, but I think he's smoked too much in his younger days/ if he still does. Hence the reason he can get out of breath.
I think thier almost ready to call it quits to be honest, and that makes me sad. I hope this last album/tour is spectacular because I have a feeling this is the last long haul of it all.

I really hope this is not their last CD - I think they have a few more in them still. I just hope they don't wait YEARS AND YEARS to do them..

Yeah, in Root Down, Adrock ALWAYS gets out of breath at the same exact time. "I Guess You'd Expect To Catch The Crew Rhymin' "

It's almost like he does it on purpose...

The answer is painfully obvious...

Mr. Horovitz has aged the best of the three.

he always seems to lose lots of angry energy on stage

Adrock looks like he's found the fountain of youth and it keeps him permanently stoned like he's on delay.
Mike looks like he's slowly turning into an anorexic Perry Pharrell from years of abuse by some really evil nutritionist. All the macking in his 20's caught up to him.
MCA is the most noticeable though. His hair's gone grey, and his sense of humor has gone the way of the out of touch grandp... but over all I think he gets the most aged prize just based on his voice alone. The man sounds older on record. I think that's been the most notable change even casual fans poke fun at.

Adrock by far. His energy is what makes the live shows so incredible. Well, I shouldn't say that cuz Mike D also has great energy on stage. But MCA just kinda lurks around.

In terms of aging though, Adrock looks much better than both of them. Mike looks like some weird prune type thing and MCA just looks like you're run of the mill 40-something. Nothing wrong with that, just saying that Adrock looks a lot younger than both of them.

Adrock has always looked young for his age in my opinion, he had a baby face all the way into his late twenties and then finally started maturing. Now he just looks like a really hot 30 year old and just keeps getting hotter. MCA always had this rugged bad boy image thing goin on, even if he's really just a sweetheart... haha that sounds cheesy. I think it's the beard/stubble, voice, and hair which is fuckin sexy by the way! And Mike D seriously has a hotter body then most 20 year olds, although he is really skinny but he pulls it off. I think he has aged the most as far as wrinkles go and that's not bad, middle aged men are supposed to have wrinkles and not be lame pretty boys which is why I find them so attractive. So to sum it up, they've all aged just fine. (y)

lurks is the perfect term for Yauch's stage presence. i like that though, personally. i feel adam h sometimes gets a little too excited.

I think they all look good. That line mentioned in Root Down is one they all say, Adrock does that purposely. To say MCA has lost his humour is to disregard the last 2 years completely - so many moments they've all been having at live shows and in interviews. His voice sounds better the way it is now, particulary live. In fact some of my favourite live footage of all time is the Paris gig in 2004, because it's the Beastie Boys as tight live as they've ever been. I hppe they'll always do whatever they want, with my favourite idea being that it includes still making music and playing live shows.

As laid back as MCA acts though - he should never have a problem with high blood pressure.

Beastie Boys still rock. I'm glad they carved out their own niche in music. I've read comments by the boys along the lines of fans giving Beastie Boys too much credit with how well they've executed their moves in this big chess game. Either way you cut the cane, Beastie Boys' influence has helped maintain the small room for creative artists in the mainstream.

It's a shame that mainstream creativity is usually used to control people these days, instead of setting people free.

I will say this, though. Whether or not they look old, young, whatever...They're still considered viable by the mainstream. And that is the biggest compliment of all to still be considered cool after 20+ years of doing hip hop music. How many hip hop artists can say that?

don't get me wrong, i've loved the Beastie Boys ever since '92 but they are not considered cool anymore. sure within their gigantic fan base they are revered like gods, but to a lot of other musicians, critics, hipsters and general music buyers they aren't considered cool. corny maybe, and a little out of touch. back in 92' - '94 they were fuckin purveyors of cool. they chilled with q-tip, got a million kids into basketball and funk music, and blended punk with hip hop. all of this in a time when dock martens and self loathing were considered de rigeur. i'll always love them, but they are an island right now. much in the way the rolling stones or new order are.

interesting i was talking to a couple guys in my class and they think the bboys are awesome (all of them were 14 year-olds) but i've also met people my age who don't like them at all too.

1994 was their peak year of coolness, atleast in my mind. That was THEIR year. 1994 was the year of the Beastie Boy.

As for the topic at hand, they've all aged, but yeah, Adrock has aged the best. Although MCA looks pretty much the same, sans the grey hair. He's also put on a little weight since To The 5 Boroughs, but it's not really that noticeable. And it's not like he overweight or anything, he's just no longer scrawny. I think we can all agree that Mike D's aged the most these past 20 years.

Personally, I think their voices have changed alot more than their faces, ESPECIALLY Adrock's. He doesn't have the same voice for two straight albums, except for Check Your Head and Ill Communication, and that's only because they went straight from the Check Your Head tour right into recording IC.

What is it that Adrock seems to always have in his mouth? I noticed it in the Hip Hop Honors segment - in the Awesome IFST DVD and in some of his pictures. Just curious - not meaning anything in a bad way. It might be something health related for that matter.

AdRock... he's still charmy and nice as he was in the early days, and it doesen't seem to me that he lost his breathe in their live performances so... I think that he aged very well...
cA is the 2nd one, cuz he's charmy more and more with age: I've been amazed by his glance! I could not stop starin' at him! And about the live performances.... He always had his particular voice and still has it, and still breathes well... :D

A good wine becomes great wine with age and that's exactly what the Beastie Boys are...Great wine that keeps getting greater and greater. They're voices have changed and have become clearer on the studio albums and live performances. Their production on live sets and studio albums are on point and even better then the past. I mean fuck listen to them live from 86-94...they're good and energetic but now they are still energetic but awesome soundin...Adrock doesn't scream in the mic and they have more energy now then before. Even Yauch gets down... So in other words the boys have aged in a very very good way....Those that laugh last, and thats exactly what they have done...Shit look at al of the emcees, rockers, punkers, jazz musicians and othe rperformers, they couldn't fuckin hold a cnadle to the boys' style of performing...The guys do song after song with very lil breaks between, and they're 40 plus years old...C'mon the young rappers out now couldn't do that shit...They'd just walk round grabbin they croutches...PLease...don't play yaselfs...

Adrock can never get TOO excited. He's like me, if im feeling a beat that much that I just get lost in the moment. Theres nothing better than watching Adrock get "lost in the moment", its so HIM, his own style.

Damn I just reread my post and I based it all on their looks, how shallow of me. I think they all act pretty young for their age too, Yauch's always been real chill on stage. I don't think they'll ever change, they're just too cool.
