Righty, so basically i've been paying tax consistently in my current job for around 10 months now, and i reckon it adds up to about £700 quid.

I've left claiming it back until now because i'd have just spent it otherwise. Only thing is, everytime i ask people just how i should be doing it i'm told i have to get my employer to fill in a form for me, which is fair enough.

But then when i ask my employer about said form, they have no clue what i'm on about (they're all fucking daft in there, anyway).

So yah, basically, considering i'm a full time student and i am most defenitley under the threshold, what's the exact procedure? I could phone them up but if government offices are anything to go by i need to know what i'm looking for before i bother calling.

have you tried going to their website? http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/
i think you need to fill in a self-assessment tax form. you can either do it online, or ask them to send you one.
they're actually really helpful in my experience, so you could try calling them with the site up in front of you and they'll tell you what to do. well, i hope they do!

good luck.

shoot, good luck with that.

i'm sure i've been paying too much tax before i reached the threshold and i need some goddamned cash back. i have no idea how to do it. i have no clue, at all, about tax. zero. i've studied that website for hours and not got anywhere.

my flatmates are both self employed and the forms they have to fill in are crazy mad. fuck that for a laugh.

You just need to write a letter to your local Inland Revenue office with your national insurance number on - saying you believe they owe you a rebate. No forms needed.
