that's what im hoping. the front cover has a press blurb that says "Dazzling Special Effects, even better than "Terminator 2" but that pictures on the back of the box seem to depict graphics that are worse than Rainbow Road on Mario Kart 64!

I wish..although i suspect a thesis on the philosophical nature of who or what g-mile is would take many volumes of leather bound books with metal locks on them.
my thesis is about how Science fiction films reflect our fears about technology!
THis past week i have watched Terminator, RoboCop, and WarGames!

is this for an undergraduate or a masters degree? also, what subject? because i know you can, of course, write about films in other areas.
when i grow up i want to be a film academic :o
i wrote about masculinity and politics in relation to terminator 2 and the searchers. i'm all over that actshun shit.

its a masters degree in Multimedia Systems! the thesis isnt actually a large part of the post-grad, i think it's there just to satisfy college rules about HAVING TO HAVE WRITTEN THINGS. its an old school stuffy place like that. Anyways, most of our work is practical and shit.
Edit: haha..yeah ive read some wacky takes on films recently, like how the Liquid Metal dude in T2 represents "the American Body Politic"

I like how in the Terminator he sent out that dude who banged his mom and knocked her up with John Connor so basically future John Connor is responsible for the conception of himself. I wonder if dude had jerked off that afternoon if future John Connor would have disappeared Michael J Fox style.

You should watch some 50s C-Movies like in MST3K for your thesis, too. First Spaceship on Venus, Teenagers from out of Space (teenagers were the terrorists of the 50s) or for a newer film Overdrawn at the Memory Bank!

haha..interesting. LIke that pretty lame bit where Marty is looking at his own hand dissapear, and its clearly not his own hand. And right in the middle of "Earth Angel" too..
Blade-runner, by the way, is possibly the most over-rated film in history. Ive had read so much analysis of that film recently, and in my opinion its a fairly shallow boring film.
I also got the sci-fi classic D.A.R.Y.L on dvd too....bout a robot boy who just wants to be loved.

yeah, theres a whole chapter on 2001, lots about HAL.
Re: Lawnmower Man, im less then 2 minutes in, and pierce brosnan, discussing his unwillingess to help the government train chimps to fight in wars ("they want him battle ready") utters this imortal line:
"fucking screw the political assholes, he's the best chimp ive ever had"
this could be my new favourite film!

A.I is being covered.
and the working title is "the New Frankensteins" or something to that effect.
since it's for a project, can you ask the school to reimburse you for the DVDs?

What's funny about this movie is that it's based off a Steven King short story (7 pages I think ) that had nothing to do with virtual reality

Yep. Fat nekkid guy munching grass and gopher behind his self-propelling mower.

2001:A Space Odyssey
I read this as A Space Godyssey and thought "Heavens to Betsy I've invented a praying machine!"

What does it mean? What does it all mean?
I was just talking about this movie with some people earlier this afternoon. Ever read the short story off of which this movie was loosely, and I stress the word loosely, based? Strange story.
