i would love to be in the west indies right now. prolly the nicest climate to sit back and enjoy some cricket
so ireland's thru, pakistan's out, and i plan on staying up all night to watch Australia vs South Africa. if it's anything like the last time they met it'll be a bloody good game
for the next couple of weeks i plan on having 10cc's Dreadlock Holiday on a continous loop (y)

For sure. I can't believe how many people are calling for the World Cup to be cancelled though. Ye Olde knee-jerks are still in full effect!

Here we go... A tea-towel classic.
You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.
Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out.
When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out.
Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in.
There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.
When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

Thanks for your trying but I think I'll never understand this game (like baseball).
So many ins and outs. I got confused :D

it's a tropical sport, they're out in the sun all day, so of course the chicks aren't going to be wearing much (y)

I just turned on the radio and it sounds like we're destroying the south african bowling 1/111 off 16 overs. Matt Haydens caning everyone all over the place. Fuckin' ace, go Aussies.
icy manipulator

it's 1/158 after 22 overs on the smallest international ground in the world. i'd be very surprised if australia doesn't crack 400 in this game

Don't get sucked into cricket man, it's absolutely gash!
icy manipulator
03-26-2007, 09:05 AM
yeah man, and they have some great players too. india has the world's best one day batsman, and pakistan had 2 of the best bowlers ever. it might sound a little weird but these are the countries that are considered to be good teams
Australia
England
New Zealand
South Africa
Pakistan
India
Sri Lanka
West Indies
Zimbabwe
best thing about cricket is that there's alot of teams that can win games. australia has on and off been quite dominant in the last decade or so, but it really is one of the most competetive sports in the world

yeah, i cant just sit there and watch, unless i'm drinking alot. cricket's an acquired taste. did you play it when you were younger camo? i played about about 7 years. it's good to check up on the score every so often or listen to it on the radio. i'm glad i watched every minute of the Aus vs SA game at the wanderers last year tho

That something that I've always said. The barmy army seem to follow england for the craic and not the cricket, or maybe it all just goes hand in hand. I don't know. Did that make sense?
Yeah we played it at school in the summer, it just seemed to be a waste of a physical education lesson stood being a 'fielder' for an hour whilst all of the teachers faves batted and bowled.

the barmy army are characters. you can yell slander at them all day then a good drink with them afterwards
that's pretty true, and when you do get to bat it'd only last for a couple of balls. we had a rule, you had to retire after 30 runs or 30 balls, there was even 1 time when i retired after 9 fucking balls! club cricket was pretty cool tho, i nearly hit the Premier of Queensland when i was 12 with a 6. i wish i did, he's a fucking asshole now

I can imagine cricket as being a good day out with the lads, drinking in the sun. Other than that I can't see the appeal. But each to they're own I suppose! (y)

04-28-2007, 07:34 PM
The end was a fucking farce. Bad light stops play and everyone thinks the games over and we've won. Everybodies celebrating, but the umpires are all 'nah, the games not finished yet. we'll come back tomorrow for three overs that are essentially dead.' So the Sri Lankans have to bat out the final overs in the dark because there are no lights at the ground because even though $US80-85 million was spent redeveloping the ground, no-one thought that maybe sticking some lights in so maybe games could be played at night was a good idea. The umpires stopped play for rain after the rain had stopped and the time that could have been used to finish the game in daylight was lost. Fucking stupid umpires and ICC.
That aside, yay for us we won 3 world cups in a row and pigeon retired a winner.(y) (y) (y)
