After listening to Professor Booty again, I have to say that MCA's verse at the end of Professor Booty is the best. He absolutely kills it. On par with the best MCs of all time.

This is pure genius:

Nobody is perfect but I'm pretty fucking close
And I'm here to give you all a heavy heavenly dose
I think you better listen 'cause I know who you are
And I think that you should treat me like a superstar
Because I'm more than just a human I'm the gift to all of you
And I'm here to make sure that my message gets through
I wonder if you're really all as dumb as you look
Or are you smart enough to learn the rules in my book
I hope you understand that the knowledge I bring
Puts me in the position of a god or a king
'Cause I blessed with the gift of the magic touch
And I wouldn't say that I'm asking for too much
All you have to do is get down on your knees and pray
And I promise you the remedy is on its way
But you can never be like me so don't waste your time
Because I reign supreme and my position is divine

This is the best verse:

Yo the time is wastin, I use the mind elevation
Dime sack lacin, court pen pacin
Individual, lyrical math abrasion
Psychic evaluation, the foulest nation
We livin in, dangerous lives, mad leak and battered wives
A lifestyle where bad streets is patternized
Wise men build and destroy
While the real McCoy dopefiend, named Detroit is still dealin boy
Coke suppliers actin biased
Cause rumors say that niggaz wear wires and we liars
But every night the gat's fired, and every day a rat's hired
I still remain the mack flyest in the phat Kani, it's --
-- just the killer in me, slash drug dealer MC
Ex-slug filler, semi mug peeler
Demi, bottles of Mo', yo simply follow me flow
Put poetry inside a crack pot and blow
rough holes for cracked out pussies and buttholes
Bring the G's and the D's roll, they can't touch those
Why shoot the breeze about it, when you could be about it?
My degrees are routed, toward the peasy haired brick houses
instead of the fake medallions
Rich niggaz transport in thousands
Foreign cash exchange amountin to millions
Doors is locked, rocks is chopped, watch the cameras in the ceilings
Trick bitches catching mad feelings
Peelin off in the Lex Jeep, techniques is four-wheelin
I bet it be some shit when we connect with Stretch
When we catch them sex niggaz with the tecs you blessed, word
So now it's on, never wasted a slug,
Time is money when it comes to mine, take it in blood

Back on track... I think MCA is the best lyricist in the group when he wants to be. Sometimes he raps about sandwiches, sometimes he raps about meaningful shit. I personally have a soft spot for his verse in 3 Minute Rule.

MCA's verse in 3 minute rule is possibly the best verse the group has ever put out. Special mention goes to Mike D on 5 Boroughs, though. He really did well on that.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, A Year And A Day is the best song (lyrically) they've ever made. Yauch is where it's at when it comes to raw MCing talent. I even printed this shit out and put it up on my wall a few years ago:

M.C. for what I am, and do,
The A is for Adam, and the lyrics; true,

So as I pray and hope and the message is sent,
I am living in the dreams that I have dreamt,
Because I'm down with the three the unstoppable three,
Me and Adam and D were born to M.C.,
And my body and soul and mind are pure,
Not polluted or diluted or damaged beyond cure,
Just lyrics from I to you recited,
Arrested, bailed but cuffed and indicted,
Enter the arena as I take center stage,
The lights set low and the night has come of age,
Through the microphone I demonstrate I am a professional,
Speak my knowledge to the crowd and the ed. is special,
For I am a bard and I am the last one,
I am the king and this is my castle,
Dwell in realms of now but viddy those of the past,
Seen a glimpse from ahead and I don't think it's gonna last,
-And you can bet your ass,

I drop the L when I'm skiing,
I'm smoking and peaking,
I put the skis on the roof almost every single weekend,
Can't stop the mindfuck when it's rolling along,
Can't stop the smooth runnin's when the shit's running strong,
Broke my bindings the lion with wings,
Preaching his word in the B. Boy sing,
I am one with myself as I turn to thee,
I prefer the dreams to the reality,
I prefer my life don't need no other man's wife,
Don't need no crazy lifestyle with stress and strife,
But it's good to have a turn to be a king for a day,
Or for a week or for a year, for a year and a day,
-Come what may,

I'm pissing in my boat and I'm fishing for trout,
Mix the Bass Ale with the Guiness Stout,
Fishing for a line inside my brain,
And looking out at the world through my window pane,
Every thing is different colors cuz the glass is stained,
Everything has changed but remains the same,
So once again, the mirror reigns, and I see myself as clear as day,
And I am going to the limits of my ultimate destiny,
Feeling as though somebody somewhere is testing me,
He who sees the end from the beginning of time,
Looking forward through all the ages,
Is, was and always shall be,
Check the prophetic sections of the pages.

Adrock is a neat guy, too. Just so he doesn't feel left out while they all sit in front of their 486 eating bread.

I think Mike D. and Adrock are much more consistent than MCA, and I consider them better. But A Year And A Day is by far the best Beastie verses in my opinion.

My favorite two verses are:

Ad Rock Don't Stop, Get On The Mic With The Tic And The Toc
I'll Fill You With The Fuckin' Rim Like Brim
I'm Walking Down Your Block And You Say That's Him
There Goes The Guy With The Funky Sound
The Beastie Boys You Know We Come To Get Down
Because I've Got The Flow Where I Grab My Dick
And Say Oh My God, That's The Funky Shit
So I'm Going To Pass The Mic And Cause A Panic
The Original Nasal Kid Is Doing Damage

and

Let me clear my throat - Kick it over here baby pop
And let all the fly skimmies, feel the beat...mmm drop

Coolin' on the corner on a hot summers day
Just me, my posse and M.C.A.
A lot of beer - a lot of girls - and a lot of cursing
Twenty-two automatic on my person
Got my hand in my pocket and my finger's on the trigger
My posse's gettin' big - and my posse's gettin' bigger
Some voices got treble - some voices got bass
We got the kind of voices that are in your face
Like the bun to the burger - like the burger to the bun
Like the cherry to the apple - to the peach to the plum
I'm the king of the Ave. - and I'm the king of the block
I'm M.C.A. - and I'm the King Adrock
I'm Mike D. - I got all the fly juice
On the checkin' at the party on the forty deuce
Walking down the block with the fresh fly threads
Beastie Boys fly the biggest heads

Yeah, Adrock's second Root Down verse is amazing for the delivery. Adrock has the best delivery in the group I think. He can make rhymes about muffins and his grandma sound cool.

It's really by a group called Clawfinger. The song is called The Biggest & The Best. It is certainly not genius and the singer is obviously not speaking of him self but rather being sarcastic against that type of mentality.

Rap-wise, I don't really care for it.

On-topic, I agree that "A Year And A Day" is the best they've ever done.

There are too many Beastie verses to just have a favourite. But I must say Adrock's stand out to me the most. I always see myself getting into the Adrock verses during most Beastie songs. I know its comin, an when it hits, I FLIP. At the moment im fealin

I thought it was common knowledge that Yauch murdered Proessor Booty harder than any verse by any of them on any non-Paul Boutique beasties record? Seriously, taking out 3rd Bass without even coming close to mentioning them? So fuckin cool.....

But yeah MCA straight kills it so hard on Booty, so ill.

I feel ya Laurie! I'm an Adrock nut to! His verses are usually the only verses i rap along with LOUD in the car....

There are to many of his lines to mention, but these 2 comes from hello nasty. I think ADROCK really really shined on this record!

My 2 FAVS are:

I've got the D double O D double O style
Here we go again because it's been awhile
Do me a favor don't touch that dial
I rock from Manhaaaaaaaaaaaaaattan to the Miracle Mile

and my ALLLLL TIME FAV!

Well I'm the Benihana chef on the SP12
I chop the fuck out the beats left on the shelf
You be like hello nasty where you been
It's time you brought the grimy beats out the dungeonnnnnnn

its like that ya'll!!!

I've always loved "A little wine with my dinner and I'm the grape ape/Feel like a winner when I make the mix tape/I get ill when I'm on the pause button/I get my fill and you can't say nuthin"

or on the Root Down EP "I get my fuckin fill and you can't say shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit" haha

i think we're forgetting, though, that many beastie songs, lyrically, are written simultaneously by the three. from there the vocals are split up by the beasties to fit into a three-man routine. not all, but many classics were written as a group.

I always thought that all three Beastie Boys had cool verses on Professor Booty.

But I really like a lot of the subtle, almost etheric lines dropped into the verses. One in particular comes to mind in G.E.T. L.I.V.E.: "Every thought in the mind is a planted seed." I like that. I think our thoughts are truly important things to be aware of.

Suck on this this beat rocks tiny
A B-E-A-S-T-I-E well everyone knows me
You know that I can surely be the number one in frequency
I'm hip I'm hopin I'm takin' time
For everyone that's on my jock
You know that I can surely rock
I like to talk I take the time
Turn it in I turn it out
Makin' rhymes, scream and shout
King of the mic I rock
I know how to turn you on just like a light
I'm number one and I'm the one
King AdRock of physico to the last
Is the day of the Beastie groove
So bet the fly rhymes to make you move.
