View Full Version : Why is it that...
...when you're in a relationship, and the person is complimentary (not just during sex, but simply sweet – like, out of the blue "you're beautiful") that you put so much pressure and down on yourself constantly?
I want a relationship, but I hate feeling this way. And it's not him, it really is me.
I'm sorry. I probably should've said something, like, I'm not looking for compliments or anything like that, but I do appreciate you in saying that. Thank you :)
I dunno. I just hate my body, and my face - EVURYTHANG when I'm with somebody else. I guess it's the whole love yourself first-thing, blablabla.
Oh Bis, it will all work itself out once you become of age and turn into a self-loathing barfly who eventually becomes "that chick" who's always at the bar who has a designated stool, substitutes cheese sticks for her 3 daily meals, and smokes 3 packs a day until her face looks like a catcher's mit.

Putting yourself down is no way to take a compliment. It makes both parties feel bad.
If somebody compliments you, the best thing you can do is smile and say thankyou. They are going out of their way to try to make you feel good, so the least you can do is not disagree with them to their face.
Having said that, everyone has insecurities and esteem problems, but you still have to try to overcome them, especially if you care about the person who is complimenting you.

Why is this like the 15th thread about this shit? Fact: people are insecure and their own biggest critic. Deal with it!

I am the SAME way, I drive myself crazy. Remember that no doubt song, "in my head" or something? It reminds me of that.
