View Full Version : A Physical sign that you're under stress.....

Do you have a unconscious physical trait or habit you display when under stress, discomfort or extreme pressure?....a colleague pointed out this morning that I begin to whistle, sing or hum the song that goes “ohhhh baby, baby it’s a wild life…..”….I don’t like that song nor do I know who sings it (???)….upon being made aware of this I realize it’s true…..bizarre….:o

If I'm with someone and something bad happens, I crack jokes. Try to lighten to mood a bit...sometimes it works, and other times (like when I was watching Passion Of The Christ with a few sobbing friends) it's way inappropriate.

hmmmm....my brother is a little like that,he laugh's when people get hurt,be it a simple elbow scrape or car accident.....does not go over well when trying to administer first aid.....

I pride myself on living a very stress free life.

I have no stress at work, as my job is just a job, a way to make money, and not a career. I work hard, and do a good job, but if I were to get fired tomorrow, I'd be OK with it, because I'd just get another job.

I have few stresses at home, my wife and I make enough to live comfortably, get along very well with each other and our families, and for the most part go through our days with little to no stress.

I always felt that people make themselves out to be a lot more important than they actually are, or try to act more important than they actually are, and that's where most stress comes from.

I know I don't mean much to many people, so I don't stress myself out trying to "do my best". And for the people that consider me an important part of their life, I need to impress them even less, because I know they'll be by my side regardless.

Nope, not in my case....a kid with FASD pissed in my drawer this morning, that's cause and reaction....I wish I could be as disassociated with my environment and professional aptitude as you seem to be....(y) ...but I do this work to relieve the sense of apathy I would be overwhelmed with if I pursued a life of comfort….or career complacency...I'd be stressed that I wasn't doing something I'm very capable of by contributing to the community in the manner I do....Laissez-faire that's the way to be, it’s likely much easier on your constitution.....

I get extremely apathetic. In times when 'normal' people would be under great stress, my emotions just switch off and I stop caring about anything.
That's how I flunked out of school.

teacher: "If you keep going on like this you're gonna be held back a year!"
me: (motionless, blank look): "Oh. Bummer."

I sort of have it now. I should be studying but when I have the book in front of me and see how much I still have to do I just freeze up and lose all motivation. (n)

If like I'm working on a project or word order at work and am stressed over it I tend to talk to myself more like "C'mon Rich quit being a pussy and get this shit done!" or "Okay time to quit fuckin around and get down to business"

i don't frequently share a bed with my boyfriend so it's not, er, a worry. but whenever i do he attempts to soothe my jaw like a good man, until he gives up and shakes me awake. hah.

Just general 'narkyness' heightened by a lack of sleep. Sometimes I break out in the odd spot too.

I just think about how much I want to bugger off abroad again a bit more. Take some more baths and refuse to go out, preferring to sulk around the flat by myself being emo and boring people on msn with my 'woe is me' tales.

It's usually just a 24h thing thankfully as otherwise I think I'd have no friends left.

Physically though, I don't suffer. Apart from wrinkled fingers and toes from being in the bath too long *hardcore self-harmer*

I smoke. A lot. When I broke up with my girlfriend I smoked 30 cigarettes a day and a few more joints on top of that for about a week. Then I ran out of money and now I'm poor as fuck. :((n)

i am really great to sleep with :(
if i am not stressed i sleep like a baby. no grinding. i stay still. i don't require to be cuddled or spooned or anything. i give space. i am a quite low maintenance bed partner. if i can get a hug in the morning that's a bonus. but other than that i am chiiiillllll. honest. grade A sharing a bed material here.

I'm kinda stressed out right now. I've got two weeks off in between jobs and I can't seem to unwind. I've got things planned almost every day of the week and taken one by one they are fun but done on consecutive days they are starting to wear me down.

If it lasts a while I get moody(er) and grumpy(er) with a pinch of apathy.

That and I procrastinate like a pro.

I can't be mad at the rag. Main wifey just had a biopsy done too. Guess I just have to wait it out in agony. Kind of like watching the movie Lake House.

But seriously, ericlee's thread had a similar effect. Before I searched for that Golden Girls pic I had imagined the woman from Poltergeist in a reverse cowgirl position. :o  We need the sanctuary of neutral crushing. Something that is like our countries' embassy. A place with immunity from evil outside influences! Either that or a multispeed shower head. Giggity giggity giggity.

Stress...

I drink a lot.

Always stressed. Especially lately. .. Can't say more.. My ex is stalking me, and I'm working on something new. (and that pisses her off) I'm not here for trouble. I'm here for long term friendship.
