So....... my family is going to load up the truck again and move to Beverly (Richmond Va that is).
We moved from Richmond Virginia to West Palm Beach Florida to Amarillo Texas all in about 4 years. Along the way we made a baby and met many colorful locals. Now, my wife has gotten a fat offer to go back full circle to Richmond Virginia. I am excited because my family and college friends are all hanging out in the River City or the state of Virginia.

We plan to move in late May or June. My wife is being sneaky and waiting until her bonus goes thru and we go on vacation in mid-April to put in her resignation. Things are going to work out because the lady we bought our home from here in Amarillo wants it back. She is homesick just in time for our move. Now, we can save on paying a realtor commission.

I am happy yet stressed for another move. At least this time we will put down roots.

Do you consider Richmond "Home"?

If I remember correctly you were there for a while.

I was born in Ohio but moved to Harrisonburg Virginia when I was 3 yrs old. I grew up in the 'Burg then went to college at VCU in Richmond. I have always considered Richmond home. I have many many friends & family in Richmond not to mention professional contacts for freelancing.

I always liked being 2 hours from the mountains and 2 hours from the beach. I know Richmond like the back of my hand so I am excited to go back to my stomping grounds.

I always liked being 2 hours from the mountains and 2 hours from the beach.

thats the same way i feel about Northern VA. 1 hour from the mountains, a couple from the beach (that i will never go to) and 30 minutes from the city.

Where the hell do you get food late at night in Richmond?

My only beef with Richmond was whenever I went and it was past 2 am I would have to eat food from 7-11.

Other than that....its all gravy....but not after 2 am.

There is a couple of really good diners that stay open 24/7. 3rd street diner is on 3rd and Main St. On the weekends it is great people watching. Now, that I am a Papa I doubt I will be going out for drunken comfort food.

Another place is the RiverCity Diner in Shockoe Bottom.
