i have a friend who i can definately tell is losing her hair. im POSITIVE she is. i want to tell her, but i feel bad to.
i know she is because it looks a little thin in the front, and her hair gets EVERYWHERE. i've been to her place and noticed it on the floor. the one time i was there i even came home and found one in my pocket and another in my shoe!!!
she's so sweet, but i think she's a little neglectful of things like this. i dont want her to lose her hair... for her own good.
what should i do?

uh, no she doesnt. its been like that as long as ive known her and i know for a fact she doesnt take anything for it, no vitamins and she doesnt eat very well.
i saw all these bruises on her and asked her what the fuck that was all about, i thought she fell or something. she said she's always been like that, and after a little questioning she said she's anemic. and when i asked her what she did about it she said nothing. i told her she should go to the doctor and do what he said, and at the very least start taking some iron. and guess what, she did and the bruises went away.

But she probably knows her hair is falling out...how the fuck could you not know that? Especially as a woman? Maybe she's too embarrassed to talk about it.

well its not like she's bald, it's just beginning to thin a bit and i notice it everywhere.
people sometimes try to convince themselves that things like that are normal. she said the same thing about the bruises... "i've always been like that" but its not normal. i could really care less what she looks like, but i dont want her being unhealthy when i know she's neglectful.
if she was doing something about it it wouldnt be falling out, dont you think?
Uh, dude...believe me...she knows.
Barb, you're always the voice of reason. What do you think I should do about my situation. I have a friend and she's growing a penis on her forehead and I'm positive she has no clue. I visit her and there's semen all over the place. It has to be hers because she's a virgin. I went into her bathroom and was all "Damn, dude, that is totally not toothepaste." What do you think I should do?

Either way, if she's doing something about it or not, I'm guessing your hair falling out would be pretty hard to miss.

Well duh just because she's a virgin doesn't mean she's not a tease - hence the semen. Conclusion: She's just a tease with a big zit on her head.
P.S. How did you know it wasn't toothpaste?

again, she says its always been that way and she thinks its normal.
sometimes you dont notice shit like that. like if i were to lose a lot of weight i wouldnt notice because i dont weigh myslef every day and i see myself in the mirror every day. but someone else who hasnt seen me might be shocked.

so i guess im an ass for caring about my friend. you're right i should let her just go bald. and then be her friend and listen to her complain about it later. i'll just be a good friend a listen but never respond.

I thought you said the bruises she said were normal. Did she say anything about the hair?
Just buy her a wig real nonchalant-like.
No but seriously, just tell her that you're worried about her and tell her she should go to the doctor again.
See! That's what I mean, but I've dispensed enough semen in my day to know what a dried specimen looks like and furthermore, I can't recall ever seeing a zit with foreskin.

thats ridiculous.
no i said that when i saw the bruises i thought she fell or someone hit her, but she said she'd always been all bruised up, that it was normal. then i was like, um, no... thats not normal, go to the doctor. its a symptom. i told her to get some iron in the meantime, which she did and the bruising went away. god, im such a cock for telling her that.

I don't know what the fuck you're getting all upset about? You do realize what message board you're posting on right? People are going to joke about shit, and people are going to attempt to give you real advice. You must know that if you post something dude...
So did she go to a doctor or what

im not getting all pissed, im responding to you.
she never went to the doctor because when she started taking iron, the bruising went away. but now im thinking maybe they;re related, the anemia, the iron, the bruising and the hair loss.
it just seemed like you were kinda telling me to mind my own business or something when im talking about this in the spirit of helping someone out.

No I was just surprised to think that someone wouldn't notice something like that. But she does sound a little off. If I were you I'd just say hey I'm worried about you, make a doc appointment, and offer to go with her or something. Or you could be like Seinfeld and take her in the car but tell her you're going to get ice cream or something.
 stop talking about your girlfriend dude, you know you like a little shemale now and then
Got your digits, don't I?;)

It's kind of like saying "Gee you're getting hefty!" The person already knows.
Actually, there might be some circumstances under which concern about a person's weight could maybe possibly imaginably be politely expressed, because at least there's something the person could DO about it. But hair loss? I doubt it's her diet or lack of exercise.

heiress, in your case (which you actually have a pretty full head o hair there) its you that's asking, not the other way around
again, a-z she doesnt know. its nothing like saying, gee your getting hefty. how have you concluded that it's diet or lack of excercise? ... i actually dont know what it is. but i do know it IS preventable and reversable, especially in women. she didnt think there was anything wrong with the bruising all over her arms and legs, she had always had it and never did anything about it. i was shocked because it was bad and suggested iron tablets and it went away. she was surprised too. its sorta the same thing here.
and yes, if anyone is wondering, which they are not, its not some random person i know. i've known the girl for yeeeeeaaaarrrrrrrsssss. she's a very good friend and we're pretty close.
its seems like its generally bad to say shit to anyone. so it seems i shouldnt say anything and let people talk behind her back. it just seems a little frustrating when you know there are things that can be done, but you're not supposed to say anything.

Well, I guess I just can't imagine how someone with hair falling out all over the place can't know. She must have to strip her brush from time to time.
But anyway. Are you two close? I guess, regardless, you should just ask her permission to ask a "personal" or "delicate" question, and prepare yourself in case she gets offended.
For what it's worth, I'm the type of guy who would rather that someone told me, say, my fly was down or I had a burger hanging or I was gaining weight. But I'm a pretty straight shooter, and not everyone out there is.

I agree with dandy. she knows. she might be in denial about it, but she knows. also, some women experience balding for various reasons and there might not be a cure. with the bruising and all that, she might have underlying problems. so yeah, I guess just approach it delicately. she definitely needs to see a doctor.
from webMD:
Medical Causes Common
"Often these women are also suffering with polycystic ovary syndrome, [a common hormonal problem in women], and sometimes their hair loss is the only obvious sign," says Ricardo Azziz, MD, director of the Center for Androgen-Related Disorders at the Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
In addition, Daly reports that certain types of autoimmune disorders result in a slightly different and often less dramatic hair loss problem known as alopecia areata -- an inflammatory condition that causes hair to come out in clumps or patches.
Still others can develop a temporary hair shedding problem known as telogen effluvium -- a change in the natural hair growth system that often follows childbirth, crash dieting, surgery, or a traumatic emotional event.
Azizz adds that thyroid disorders, anemia, even chronic illness or the use of certain medications can also cause hair loss in women that is often undiagnosed.
For these reasons, specialists say it's vital for all women to get at the "root" of their hair loss before seeking treatment.

Ya mean New Work? That's all I know, work work work work. If they don't give me set full time hours, I may just quit and find one in which I know when I'll work everyday and what time I get off. I'm tired of this work when they need me, 80 hour work week crap. I'm tired and cranky.
Other than that, I guess it's going ok. I'll be looking into Craigslist to see if anybody needs a guitarist here shortly. Hopefully that turns out to be fun.
80 HRS A WEEK?!?! Yeah, that's pretty gay. I've known you've been there for a minute, just haven't got around to askin why the move, what part you're in, how's the bars and bud, etc.
I'll PM you sometime. I'm gettin the fuck outta Dodge for now.

doesn't eat well...or doesn't eat? People who suffer eating disorders often suffer hair loss as a result. Sounds like she has some health issues, I guess I would focus on getting her to do something about that...and if she does then her hair will get better too.
fight one battle at a time if ya know what I mean.

ok, like anyone cares buuuuuuuuuuutttt...
i saw this girl again last night. guess what?
it worked.
she went to the doctor who sent her to the dermotologist who told her that, while her case isnt severe, she was in fact - LOSING HER HAIR. that it was probably hereditary, and that while she might not go completely bald ever or anytime soon, she'd see noticable changes in time without treatment. the doc told her to get rogain for women.
and she did. guess what else, there's no hair in her apartment, at least not all over the floor. her hair looks really nice and luxurious and, no joke, thick. she thanked me. im glad she wont grow up to be a bald old lady. she can go on being a hot thick maned biddy. life goes on.

I am in this boat.
The past few months have been ultra stressful (family yuk, new business venture), and while my mind stays calm, my teeth clench and recently the hair has started to go.
It took a while before I would admit it to myself and do anything about it.
I have now had a good lot of it cut off to improve it's condition, and started taking some more b-vits, but I know I just need to chill out a bit (or a lot)
She probably knows, her plughole will have told her. It's quite something when the water in the shower starts to cover your feet, like standing in a huge puddle.

Hey b, send her my way. My wife is loosing hair too but, she's not. Within a week, I could gather enough hair from the bathtub drain to create 4 sasquatch outfits and yet, my wife still has a full fluffy head of hair. I swear she's part chia pet.
