THE SHIELD season five
CHILDREN OF MEN
Warren Zevon's STAND IN THE FIRE and THE ENVOY finally get domestic CD release...
STAND IN THE FIRE, in LP form, is one of the greatest live albums so far. The CD adds some songs, but I hope that they tack them onto the end rather than possibly dilute the flow, like Cheap Trick's complete Budakon did. I mean, it was still something, but the original album was just punch-punch-punch of rock and roll awesome.
Ah it's a good day. :)
Children of Men has its own thread so I will have to rent it.
I have to watch Blood Diamond and SherryBaby first.
Oh, by the way I liked Casino Royale.

Casino Royale was good, but it kind of... goes on a bit, doesn't it?
But, yeah -- good stuff. That runner athlete dude was amazing.

Sounds interesting... I wonder if it'll get distribution here.
I'd go with you if I could. :)

I have long suspected that a-z is actually Michael Chiklis...this blatant self promotion ties it all together.....:)

:) spanks!
it's about france's "forgotten colonials" during ww2 and their fighting for a country which repeatedly shat on them (nice summary, claire - i just realised the webpage didn't have an english translation for yer). and they are still shat on now. because of this movie, chirac promised that another 100 million euros a year would be dedicated to the veterans from morocco, tunisia, algeria etc. and that is pretty cool indeed.
i'm sure it'll get distribution there. it's bigger than amelie!
also, is the last king of scotland out there yet? please go and see it! you like! (y)

i thought the ending was perfect, the final 30 minutes or so we're perfectly timed/structured to convey the increase in dread/paranoia etc.

aaaahaah, well - yes. of course. i highly doubt he is that method to be actually tortured, hah!
it was a prosthetic chest but it looks so fucking disgusting that james mcavoy actually passed out. this makes him about 50x more adorable to me :o
so i was researching the facts of this (it is true!) and one of the stories i read has the best finishing line ever:
"Fortunately, McAvoy and his nipples were not actually hurt in the incident."

It also makes me think of that scene in A MAN CALLED HORSE where Richard Harris gets strung up.
