Yeah, but you can get the forever stamps, so just stock up.

It's still a hell of a deal, sending a letter for two bits. (y)

ok you know what though, seriously WE DON"T NEED THE US POST OFFICE.

1. they rarely deleiver the mail properly. it should not take four fucking days for a letter to go accross town a total of 5 miles. and it has. They don't bundle the mail properly either I get at least one letter a day that is addressed to some one else. they also seem incapable of READING numbers or street names. just yesterday they left a package for some one named susan at the address 2120 and my address is 2108. not even fucking close morons!!!!!! Also they get every fucking holiday under the sun and that pisses me off too.

2. we can send alot of stuff electronically

3. there are plenty private companies like UPS and FED EX than can be used to send physical items that can't be transmitted electronically.

COME on people the revolution starts now! Meet me at the post office. Bring torches, pitch forks and implements of destruction. lets burn em down.
(sorry a-z I know you are a fan of the post office. you expereinces have obviously been better than mine)

Yeah. 95 times out of 100, they do it right:

A package I bought on E-bay a few weeks ago arrived from halfway across the country in two days -- regular mail service, not priority.

I mail a letter here to anyplace within 60 miles and it's there the next day.

I pay my rent by mail; that's not really an option, and there's no way I'd pay UPS or Fed Ex or DHL rates to do that.

My only beef is all the junk mail I get. But that's where USPS makes most of their money which keeps rates down, so I can put up with it.

did you open susan's package?

I almost did. it was from Overstock.com.

I shook it a little and decided from the sound of it that it probably wasn't anything I wanted. So i gave it back to the post office.

Why the fuck not just boost it to an even 40 cents?! I hate dealing with the change. Guess I'm sticking with online bill pay.

I can't pay my rent online. I also have a credit card that charges $5.95 to make an online payment.

Sometimes I'll pay my utility bill over the phone, because that's only $1.95 fee. But anyway, those are the things I pay by mail.

Another reason you need stamps is that, dammit, sometimes putting a greeting card in the mail is just the right thing to do. E-mail doesn't cut it for certain occasions.

Oh my god. For less than 40 cents, someone will take your envelope anywhere in the United States, from Key West to Honalulu to the tip of the Alaskan archipelago. You're right, it's all just so very unfair  People in Africa who walk miles every day for clean water are really crying their eyes out for ya.

actually people in africa could probably EAT for 40 cents a day. if the profits from the sale of our stamps were going to a better cause then I wouldn't have a fucking problem with it.

p.s. the reason they are able to keep jacking the price up is all of you just accept it! Oh well 40 cents..who cares? sorry but I do. ok well I don't care that much, but I do think it's unnessary for them to continue to raise the cost every 6 months. fuck forever stamps. the whole thing is dumb.

"Better cause"? It's not a fuckin' charity, it's the post office. They get paid too take mail from place to place. You can't even make a local call from a pay phone for the price of a stamp. Try and find something worthy of being indignant about; there are so many - this isn't one of them.
