Oh, McCain. You've turned into a sad political tool of the right. :(

It's a little weird to not know how you voted on something like that.
There does need to be education that abstinence from sexual contact and illicit needle sharing are the best ways to avoid infection. Next to that, condom use is necessary, but not an absolute guarantee against disease transmission or unplanned pregnancy.
I get tired of stuff like what the reporter says -- actually, states it correctly once then corners McCain erroneously later with “But you would agree that condoms do stop the spread of sexually transmitted diseases."
They don't. They're a great asset, but no guarantee.

True, but if I was the one being questioned I'd correct him by saying "It can help lessen the chances you have for contracting an STD, but the best way to avoid any kind of sexual disease is by abstaining from sex." What I got from his interview is that he knows his position, he just doesn't want to say it because he doesn't know if it's a popular stance, so he fumbled. Lamers.

Yeah. It comes off like maybe he doesn't have the courage of his convictions, one way or another.
"I think I think this, but I'd have to look into how I think."

Well, it appears people still had some faith in him, I was merely pointing out the futility in that.
any credibility mccain had went down the crapper once he endorsed bush in '04, and stood side-by-side with him at the '04 republican convention.
rajiv chandrasakeran also did a good job of debunking mccain's rosy baghdad scenario last night on countdown (http://video.msn.com/v/us/msnbc.htm?g=4F6EC1A8-3C3D-46DA-81D0-CD5C3C42CC0C&f=00&fg=copy).

Exactly. I had some lingering faith of him being a moderate until the 2004 election.

It was the last straw for me.
He still gets my respect for how he handled being a POW, but I've got no time for people who think he's an independent republican.
