View Full Version : the eighties matchbox b-line disaster
i learned of them because they had a song that was briefly featured in shaun of the dead (mister mental (http://youtube.com/watch?v=UVd-3wZCJwI&mode=related&search=)), and i said "hey that song's kind of cool", so i looked for some other songs of theirs and i found some, most of which are also pretty cool
chicken (http://youtube.com/watch?v=TLoTlDPFuy0&mode=related&search=)
psychosis safari (http://youtube.com/watch?v=zcagGXvWcoc&mode=related&search=)
morning has broken (http://youtube.com/watch?v=rYEC6Bja-yU&mode=related&search=)
they have other songs as well, most of which are fairly cool (i bought a cd) but that's all i can find on youtube
anyway my opinion is that they're pretty cool, and i thought i'd tell you that
maybe they're more well known than i realize, but i'd never heard of them really
That's a very well organized post.
Good work!

I am very aware of them and I think they rule. 'Celebrate your mother' is a great track too. How can you not love a song with the lyrics
"I WANNA FUCK YOUR MOTHER!!! It's a dirty job but someone's got to do it well. But please don’t tell your father 'Cause I’ll fuck him as well."

Also, Noel Fielding from the Mighty Boosh is influenced by them, which you can hear in the nanageddon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gL9f31reR5g) episode.
i did not know that, nor had i seen that episode. thanks for that!

You're very welcome my awesome avatar having amigo.
btw, anyone know if they'll be touring anytime soon? I'd love to see these guys live.
they do seem like they'd be a fun live show. i dunno if they come to america often, or ever, it doesn't seem like they've caught on over here very well...like spaced
speaking of spaced, the video for psychosis safari was directed by edgar wright, apparently (director of spaced, shaun of the dead, hot fuzz, which i'm obviously a fan of). and i don't know who directed chicken, but that's a pretty sweet video

horse of the dog is better than the 2nd album, they are cool tho. they were completely nuts live on their earlier tours.
the album i bought was the 2nd one, the royal society. i like it a lot, but all of the youtube videos i posted are from the 1st album, and i really like those, so i ordered that one off amazon the other day as well. apparently it's only 25 minutes long, but from what i've heard so far, it should be a very good 25 minutes.
bad religion's no control wasn't much longer than that, and i still listen to that all the time, so a short album isn't a bad thing
i found celebrate your mother on youtube too (http://youtube.com/watch?v=eUSlC5CbTPM), this one's the best one yet

You know, I never even realised that the album is so short.
Woah. But it's 25 minutes of noisy goodness. (y)
