James Cameron's Best Film

Cuz of my thesis I watched T1,T2 and Aliens again recently and it occured to me that the man can make a damn good film.

I'm gonna go with Aliens. I watched it for the first time in about 8 years on Sunday and I was blown away. Its pure entertainment from start to finish, the action is great, the set-design, the script, the characters, acting, all top notch. I might make deliberations to move it into the upper-pantheon of my favourite films.

My mate was watching it and remarked "they don't make them like this anymore" and he's dead fucking right. One of the BIG things i think is CGI. There days the Aliens would be CG would look uber amazing, but because they look uber amazing you'd know they WERENT real. Whereas the Stan Winston puppets were physically there, no mistaking it.

Anyways, what is your favourite Cameron film?

Terminator 2. But Aliens was the superior side-scrolling video game, what with the walker and all.

T2. That thing is a fucking swiss watch. It's relentless, then knows exactly when to let up a little so the audience can catch its breath before plunging back in. The screenplay is a masterpiece of construction.

Yeah, his movies each have their flaws -- he falls for hokey dialogue wayyyy too easily -- but Aleins and T2 are the best things he's done. Hell, if he'd ironed out some of the cheap romance and the cardboard villain he wrote for Billy Zane, Titanic might well have been just as good.

Alien is a masterful suspense horror movie, Aliens is more action oriented and is worked out to perfection.

I agree with atoz about T2, very slick movie, runs like clockwork.

I refuse to see Titanic.

I wouldn't know which to pick as his best though as I really like Abyss as well.
