View Full Version : Getting older on the messageboard

Do you think your posts have changed a lot? Do you have more to say, or less? Would you be embarrassed by some of the old stuff you posted? Does age mellow you out online? Is there such a thing as too many questions?

I have mellowed. I'm not as fun as I used to be.

Lo_Lyfe
04-02-2007, 12:08 PM
No, never.
Yeah, those photos were your 'Do the Bartman', and I'm hoping that after you expose us to your 'Deep Trouble', you realise it can be a slippery slope.

I know when I first got here, I was one of those douchebags who put Beastie Boy lyrics in my signature and then decided to give credit to whoever sang it.

Yeah, like people on the board don't know Mike D sang that. Come on. We're the official message board dedicated to the band, chances are, if they're on the board, the quote is neither inspiring nor original, and there's no need to give "due credit" to whoever sang it because it makes you look douchey.

Yep, that was me. I'm embarrassed by that, but I did outgrow it.

On a side note, you know what else sucks? I hate when people say "Homer Simpson" instead of just Homer. Our society knows two famous Homers: an ancient one who wrote books, and one that is a cartoon character from our current pop culture. So I hate it when someone says something to me like "This reminds me of that one time Homer Simpson decided to buy a plow!" You can just say Homer. Chances are, if someone doesn't know who you're talking about, they're an idiot.

i'm far cooler now

oh, unless you count posting on a message board for about 7 years and having over 10,000 posts (counting ones from old versions of the board) as being uncool

in that case i've become exponentially less cool

I used to write really long replies to everything. also, I posted a lot in BG and fought with people about whether or not they were "real" fans. :o

interesting i just edited my sig 2 nights ago & that was my sig:mad::o
but you are right the reason i deleted my mike d quote was cuz i thought it was really corny to have it as my signature, but the pac quote is stayin.

.....i've noticed that i'm starting to get more hesitant about what i post in beastie general....if you look at my first posts on here they're all fangirl post...i use to post religously in the naked mike d thread..thank god that thread got deleted it was some fun times but i think i was going insane in that thread:o

I think I'm the same as I ever was. I'm not here with intentions of "stroke me" or anything.

I'm here to try to make ya'll laugh. Also to relieve steam and I notice that the majority of you are here for the same thing.

I've grown quite accustomed to alot of you and would really wouldn't mind hanging out with you if I can ever find the time.

Needless to say, my posts had stayed the same. Some stupid and some rule.

Yeah, eric. Your posts have always been good to read.

Also, it would be assumed that the question about aging online doesn't refer to how you age in real life, and that is why the distinction was made. That's for the smart-mouthed ladies up the back.

I was just looking at old threads I'd made a year or so ago and I was like "wow....drunk thread...sex thread....drunk and sex thread....drunk thread" and I remember that time period going out and drinking every weekend to the point of excess because I couldn't deal with myself sober apparently. Not to say I don't drink still but that pattern has definetly taken a dive. I'm thankful for that personally and publicly so I don't continue to make quite such an ass of myself. But don't expect me to never have a drunk thread again...c'mon now.

I don't really remember what I was like when I first started posting - one thing I do miss though is that I had a lot of closeish friendships that have waned over the years. But ahh that's how a thug life is.

aaaaahahhaha! no no. i meant, uh.. i dunno what i meant. i guess i was struggling to think of some internetty habits to talk about. i have become a lot more mature on here. i do take things a lot more seriously, but i always have. it was strange coming back after a sort of long hiatus where i could take it or leave it and having lots of people who had sort of become part of the, er, bricks and mortar here and me not knowing who they were. but learning about new people was fun!

i would like to share a pint or two and a scotch egg with quite a lot of you, and for that i am grateful. all i really hope for of this place is that some of you wouldn't mind doing the same with me should the chance arise.

Well, this is a good thread.

I think that when I came here I was 19 or so, and I was definately immature like most guys that age. After three years and some new life experiences I think I'm probably much more mature. Sometimes a glimmer of the old me comes up but I feel more reserved about things now. I've made mistakes here and there but I definately don't think about this board any time other than when I'm online on the board.

It's a good place to come read some interesting conversations every once in a while. I usually don't post a lot anymore because I just prefer to read and listen insted of compose new threads and try to be interesting or appealing.
