Jesus! Usually it takes a LOT of vomit to make you start bleeding. The only time I've heard of someone throwing up blood was from a girl who has a serious problem with bulemia.

You okay?

Yeah, the drinking might not have caused that. You should have it checked.

Blood in the stool is bad enough; vomiting blood is some serious shit. And unless you're a pretty chronic alcoholic, it might be something else.

Ulcer?

it happened to me before back in september, but it wasnt very much blood, and I just kinda blew it off as a one time thing

it just really really sucks being all alone when its happening

Is it kind of a few streaks of blood? Prolonged vomiting can cause a tear in the small blood vessels of the throat or the esophagus, producing streaks of blood in the vomit.

if it's not a significant amount of blood it's not a big deal. if you are heaving hard you can burst a blood vessel in your stomach...or if you took advil in the last 24 hours and drank...it causes stomach bleeding.

it's not serious unless it persists.

Edit: yeah what YorkshireRose said^

i've never thrown up blood, but I have a hangover process which eventually leads to bile... its god awful... i cant even keep down water, but i have to keep drinking it to battle the bile...

i'm a lightweight, thats why i dont like drinking...

is there such thing as an allergy to alcohol?

That's how AA defines alcoholism. But, medically, the jury's still out on that idea.

QueenAdrock

Wait, the AA says that alcoholics have an allergy to alcohol? That doesn't make sense. I thought it was just a really heavy addiction they can't kick. If they're allergic, wouldn't they just break out in hives whenever they touched the stuff?

Or maybe I'm taking it too literally.

abcdefz

You'd have to read the big book. But basically, the idea is that alcoholics react so differently to alcohol than "normies" do that they consider it an allergy of the mind.

I mean, there is something to that, but I don't completely buy into it as an allergy.

Allergy of the mind? That's odd.

I think I have that with porn sometimes. :(

From the big book, "The Doctor's opinion":

All these, and many others, have one symptom in common: they cannot start drinking without developing the phenomenon of craving. This phenomenon, as we have suggested, may be the manifestation of an allergy which differentiates these people, and sets them apart as a distinct entity. It has never been, by any treatment with which we are familiar, permanently eradicated. The only relief we have to suggest is entire abstinence.

freaky dude. take care of yourself, be careful miss.

I ended up drinking enough yesterday that my feelings came out much easier than normal. That's pretty much normal with alcohol though. But I've think I've only cried once ever in my life while drunk. Last night was the second time ever, and the worst.

And now I'm not at work because I cried hard enough that my eyes have been swollen pretty much shut till now. Woo.
