I don't advocate the smoking of anything green, be it lawn clippings, tennis balls, whatever.
But when this album first came out, I smoked something green, put on my headphones, shut my eyes and listened. Although I'd never understood the sentiment that this album showed them looking back, I could only think of Shake Your Rump-video-era Mike D, Glasgow shirt and Tie Adrock, and Pass the Mic-video-era MCA rapping on the songs.
It was weird.

One thing I've noticed on TT5B is that the bass has been turned way up on a lot of the tracks, in fact I think Solid Gold Hits got the same treatment. It is so high it distorts on most stereos I have played them on.
I know I have some shoddy equipment but has anyone else noticed this? Someone in the production team has a serious bass fetish that has gone too far!

The weird thing is Adrock from 3-Minute Rule is still the one who says "Why not open ya mind for a sec?".

The only green thing you smoked is when I painted my fist and punched a hole through your head. wErd!

The whole board will profit from you not being here.
I'm just gonna leave it at that because I have better things to do than fight with you.

Any time an album has a dependency it usually sucks. ie: turn the volume up w/headphones, listen to it when at a protest rally, or the sort.

To be honest i never listen to it. I can listen to CYH, IC and HN a million times, but tt5b is just not good enough, the album misses something special that CYH, IC and HN have, a mix of styles.
I'm glad they play their instruments on the upcoming album!

i have to disagree with that statement. alot of great albums serve a distinct purpose. like you don't listen to a Cat Stevens record when you're at the club, or pump Rage Against the Machine when you're about to get down with a fine young biddy, but this doesn't discredit the quality of the music these artists make. i would say that the real incredible albums are the ones that can be used for just about any occassion.
For example: Air's music is extremely circumstantial in that it's the most accessible when you're relaxed or docile, wherein it wouldn't be interpreted to it's full capacity if it's on while, say, you're trying to get pumped for a football game.

Truth is, if it were universally classic, there would be no need for debate.

You can always debate, even if it's a classic but out of all the albums TT5B always gets the least respect.
It's going to be interesting to see if everyone loves the new album then finally admits that TT5B was more than a little disappointing as an album and they were just blinded because it was their newest work.

Turn up da bass and lay low on the treble.
