We do need more people to speak their minds. From my experience, unless it's a celebrity speaking their mind on this type of issue, it's written off as cuckoo by many of my peers.

Even though I'd hate to say this Rosie will catch the attention of and generate questions for millions on this issue.

I bet Rosie likes the Beastie Boys. She doesn't really sound much different than anybody I know here in Seattle. I'm OK with her speaking her mind, much, much more OK with her speaking her mind than her not speaking her mind.
If that perverted obscene phone calling "No Spine Zone" O'Reilly can spout angry bullshit everyday on Fox w/o consequence, Rosie should be able to ramble on with her diatribe too. Thing is, Rosie is fed up with holding in the outright injustices of the corporate parent that feeds her, says it and Bill does just the opposite, he perpetuates the Rupert Murdoch FOX media speaking points for the day.
It's all a matter of the first amendment, use it or lose it.

There’s this one celebrity, Rosie O’Donnell, a talk show host, and she said this: “I don’t know anything about Afghanistan, but I know it’s full of terrorists, speaking as a mother.” So what is this "speaking as a mother" then? Is it a euphemism for "well, talking out of my arse"? "Suspending rational thought for a moment"? As a rational human being, Al-Qaeda are a loose association of fundamentalist zealots who could be rounded up with a sustained police investigation. But speaking as a parent, they’re all eight foot tall, they’ve got lasers under their moustaches, a huge eye in their foreheads and the only way to kill them is to nuke every country that hasn’t sent us a Christmas card in the the last 20 years. Speaking as a mother….

Anyone who gets into the public pissing matches like she does has undermined her own credibility. Which is a shame, because sometimes people with no credibility are saying smart things. Kinda like Johnny Drama.

Yes, I think that as well. Her influence may help raise more questions and the awareness of others.

I suppose you're right. I wish more people thought like you. The US makes it easy to become a jaded person. Sometimes I wonderwhy I even bother speaking my mind when all it does is bring me ridicule. Maybe people deserve what they get. Hey, I'm human.
