I hope you're not overly fond of summer, because if you're moving up here you'll probably never see it again.
Kudos on the acceptance though!

Thanks everyone. :)
And I AM overly fond of summer, but I'm also overly fond of Brett and a very affordable education at a reputable school. So I'll have to deal. And your summertime is absolutely bee-oo-tiful, so I'll just try to keep my mind on that during the bitter freezing months.

They'd be right.

Thanks again. :o
Here's to hoping my FAFSA looked super pathetic so I'll get a lot of free funding to go there! Granted, going to Canada for school will save me about $14,000 (as opposed to going to a school in my home state, wtf!), but I still want free money.
First order of business is getting a place to live that will allow kitties and is in walking distance of the school. A kitty is a must, I've lived for the past year without one and it's unacceptable now.

I disagree. I believe the first order of bidness is for you to start saying bidness.

Aww, congrats, Queenie. I'm taking the ACT on Saturday so I can hopefully get into uni in England so I can move in with the boyfriend and I'm really nervous. But you getting in gives me hope. If I try hard enough and get good enough scores I can get into my chosen school too. :o

I didn't even realize I didn't say bidness. :(
Medallia, my suggestion is to call the people at the university and try to schedule an appointment to go see the school. That's what I did, I had some email correspondences with them and then I took a tour of the school and met everyone. The lady who showed me around was also the lady that was in charge of the admissions so that probably helped me out a good deal. They're more likely to admit someone if they seem truly interested in the program, and it makes you an actual person to them and not just a piece of paper. If you can't visit the school, even emailing them to ask questions about the program helps.

hey! congratulations! so proud of you, getting all smart n shit. hehehe.
Congratulations Queen. Alberta is a long way from the Mason Dixon Line. My guess is that the time difference is going to fuck with your head so make sure to schedule night classes.

Thanks Pauli-Yeti-Cmute.
Congratulations Queen. Alberta is a long way from the Mason Dixon Line. My guess is that the time difference is going to fuck with your head so make sure to schedule night classes.
Actually, they're two hours ahead so if I took night classes, I'd be getting out around 11 PM my time which would REALLY fuck me up. Last time I was there, I naturally woke up at 7:00 AM (used to waking up around 9 on the weekends), so I decided start jumping up and down on the bed to wake him up too, because I shouldn't be awake and him not. I'm a good girlfriend.
Oh yeah, our trip up there is going to go Pittsburgh-Chicago-Minneapolis-Manitoba-Saskatchewan-Alberta, so if any of you want to meet up/give us free housing for a night, it would be really appreciated. (y)

awww yayayya Im so happy for you
I wish I had the balls to become a librarian, I'd love my life.
Edmonton is totally a good place to live, and yeah sure the winters are long but UofA is a top notch school.
all of my relatives live in Vermillion, about 2 hour east of edmonton.
actually you should just say fuck school, move to ft McMurray or something and make 90,000 a year doing a normally mimimum waged job, true that.

Ha! I'd love to just move up for a job, but school is pretty much my only way into the country, unless I wanted to marry. They don't give Americans jobs unless it's for a damn good reason.
QueenAdrock
04-09-2007, 03:13 PM
That's what I said!! They replied with something about not wanting to take jobs away from Canadians or something and they'd have to have a real lack of people in my job field in order to import me.
Pfft.
