I saw it today, and I loved it. I think the Rodriguez Planet Terror was lame and entertaining, zombies and shit... but it was all about the Tarantino, Death Proof. That movie had some awesome car stunts and a killer ending. I think Ill see it in the theaters again sometime. Anyone see it yet?

I'd definitely like to check it out, although I'm cheap and I'll probably wait 'till it hits the local dollar theater.

Nobody you know wants to see it?

I don't recall ever seeing a movie alone...same with concerts. They pretty much suck going solo.

a chick with a gun as her leg seems pretty badass but i'm not seeing it though, besides the leg thing it doesn't attract me that much to see it.

I just got back. Fucking. Loved. It. (y)

I agree with Paul, "Death Proof" is the better half. "Planet Terror" was lots of fun, but it kind of got too grotesque for its own good. Also, could have been a little shorter. Having said that, Rose McGowan as a machine-gun legged go-go dancer and Fergie getting slaughtered (before showing off cleavage and bending over :p ) is worth it alone.

You got that right about Fergie, very unexpected and hot. The Rob Zombie trailer for the Werewolf Women of the SS looked fuckin awesome, same with Machete....cant say the same for the hobo shotgun guy, or Thanksgiving.

Yeah, me neither. I mean, really, imagine all the gravel and dirt the girl with the machine gun leg would gather in the muzzle of that m-16 she'd gather while walking? Causing the weapon to do nothing to backfire in her face IRL? I mean, c'mon dammit. The movie isn't possible.

On the real though. I think TNLOL likes to sound like a prude but he could probably tell you the serial number of the M-203 attached to that m-16 leg of hers because he loved that movie so much.

I'm all about seeing this damn movie. I've been drooling over the adverts for it when I see em posted at the subway stops. Kurt Fucking Russel dammit. A movie released in 07 with Russel in the cast is the giantest leap into the future in the movies.

I'm sure NLOL likes to come off as lots of things, but a prude? Wouldn't have thought that.

I watched it last night. I liked it but I would not watch it again.:D Sometimes I was thinking "come on" as it dragged on, then other times I was really into it.

that hobo with a shotgun trailer is a contest winner. Rodriguez did a contest here in town for people to make fake trailers and that one got it.

I didn't participate.

ps, I hate rodriguez. he's the jack in the box of filmmakers.

I always plan on getting to the theater but things stay in the theaters for such a short time now that I never seem to make it.

I had no real interest in this until I heard both the directors were interviewed on public radio and I remembered how much I used to like Tarantino. Both directors try to do interesting things, and I like that they employ interesting actors and try things like a double feature, even if I don't love all their movies as movies.

I'm glad to get the input from you folks who actually saw it.

By the way, I think there's something wrong with you (low self esteem?) if you won't go places by yourself. Force yourself to go to a movie or concert alone. I promise that the earth won't open up and swallow you whole.

I would have missed a lot of great movie experiences if I was afraid of going to a movie by myself.

I was going to see it last night but had too much to do. But I'm a Rodriguez/Tarantino fan. Individually and together. So I'm definitely seeing it. Sunday night it's on (y)

I went and saw it yesterday - My friend and I are talking about going to see it again, only this time we'll bring guns and see who kills themselves first. (n) I dont have the attention span for shit like that. No one said it would be three god damn hours long!! I found planet terror and the preveiws pretty intresting, but as soon as Death Proof came on. Theres just something about Tarantio I dont like. They should have cut off that movie after the first deaths. I might have been satisfied with that - but no, it goes on another 2 hours. (n)

I dont like Donnie Darko?

I never said the WHOLE thing was bad, just most of Death Proof and the fact that it was freakin 3 hours long. Good lord. you know what? Screw it.

(!)

This movie was a total blast.

The chick driving the car in Death Proof was a bit too "Chris Tucker-like" for my taste, but other than that, it was great.

it was a fun movie. i think i liked planet terror more cause it was first, and by death proof, my abilities to concentrate and/or stay awake were severly limited.

but yea, good times. i felt terribly empowered and wanting to kick men in the balls afterwards

I'm polluting this thread with some....Celeb gossip!

Rose McGowan and Robert Rodriguez began having an affair on the set of 'Grindhouse' last year. This sucks for Rodriguez's family, because he has been married for 16 years to his wife, Elizabeth Avellan, with whom he has four unfortunately named little boys. His kids names are Rebel, Rocket, Rogue and Racer, and daughter, Rhiannon.

That is really shitty. When I heard him interviewed about the movie on NPR, he said that he basically wrote the movie for her because he hadn't realized that she was stuck on a TV show. It was kind of a sweet interview, but it taints the story if sexual favors were exchanged.

And there's no point in naming a kid Rhiannon unless you want her to be a stripper.

Is there an intermission between movies? I know that the two movies are super short, but I'm used to an intermission in between a 1970s double feature at the retro theaters.

Is there a real intermission with time to buy popcorn though?

Sorry. I don't mean anything by it. In the late 1970s, in the midwestern US, many trashy moms named their daughters Rhiannon in honor of Stevie Nicks and because of the name's supposed link to witchcraft.

When I used to work on minor criminal cases, the women with that legal name tended to work in a sex-related field. Don't tell your friend. I'm sure it's a fine name in Wales.

Actually, it seemed to me that both movies were about 1.5 hours, so not actually short. I enjoyed both films, but was sobering up about halfway through Death Proof and it limited my ability to enjoy it. Headache.

I loved them both, thought Planet Terror was awesome. Marley Shelton was great. Kurt Russell was bomb. Loved it. I hope they do another.

Nope. No real intermission. The trailers are too cool to miss too, so it makes for a full bladder for a long time.

So I think I'm going to see it next Sunday. If my house isn't COMPLETELY trashed from the kegger we're having Saturday night. Which it will be. :(
