I'm moving there in August and I have no idea about reputable companies or anything! I'm going to need car insurance and a cell phone and I don't know which ones are good and which ones are kinda shady.
I got an online quote for having my car in Alberta for "occasional driving" and it's $2,400 USD! What the hell! I mean, I know it snows there and everything, but that's more than twice what I pay here!
There's a whole lot of stuff I need to figure out and it's twice as hard because I'm an American and haven't heard of any of these companies. :(

Alberta is notorious for bad car insurance (especially for young males) because we have a lot more collisions than other parts of the country.
Cell phone companies? I guess Rogers Wireless?

Ok, seriously. Did that reply warrant a post? Or something.

I don't know shit about car insurance since I don't have a car, but I think my parents use Allstate...
As for cell phone stuff, there's a few big companies here that I heard are good...Telus, Rogers and Virgin Mobile.
Hope that helped out a bit. (y)

Thanks. I've been looking at Telus and another company called Bell, but I don't know what has good service. Like there's big names all around here, but you have to live here and travel around to know that Cingular sucks in DC, and Verizon Wireless has the biggest service base throughout the whole country. But Verizon is also one of the most expensive. I'm just wondering which companies everyone has had luck with, and which ones they think suck. Because all this website searching isn't really telling me that kinda stuff.
I think I'm just going to keep my car garage-kept up there until 2008, when I turn 25. Then my rates will go down and I can afford to drive there.

In BC basically everyone uses ICBC and I think AMA is the equivalent in alberta, but I always hear from relatives that its a rip

Telus is alright.
Insurance companies differ in between provinces, so, anything I've got to say is worthless.
