So yeah this is a topic in BG but not in here....fuck other music. Anyone going? Outdoor festival, camping galore, in Washington next month...

Saturday May 26

Bjork, The Arcade Fire, Manu Chao, M.I.A., Citizen Cope, Neko Case, The Hold Steady, Grizzly Bear, Ghostland Observatory.

Sunday May 27

Beastie Boys, Interpol, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Spoon, Bad Brains, Dandy Warhols, Black Angels, Money Mark.

Mix Master Mike also has his own set plus Blackalicious has been added and apparently Sarah Silverman is "hosting", also Michael Showalter will be doing something (fucking people need to stop adding shit I want to see!).

Anyone going to this? I'm trying to decide if I could/should. I was planning on going to L.A. to see Bob Barker in the Price is Right before he retires but now I kinda want to go to this. Arghhh what to do?

You forgot to mention that the Beasties are actually playing two sets at Sasquatch. One is an instrumental set and the other a traditional hiphop set. (y)

Jeah jeah, I know, but the Price is Right thing is more of a 'once in a lifetime' type deal, I mean, he's a legend and he's retiring in June. That would be pretty cool to see. Plus I don't really listen to any of those bands besides the ones that are Beastie Boys related and although I'm sure I would enjoy other ones, I know I'll have another opportunity to see them (and even if I don't, i'm okay)

Also I guess it's kinda a weird snob issue because I've seen them 4 times, all in very small venues, front row, blah blah, and I'm wondering if this will be lame compared to that.

When I heard about this festival I called my family and told them I was coming that week. About two days later, I changed my mind because of a comment from someone I trust at work. I still can't believe that I'm intentionally skipping a WA show!

I'm excited that so many people are going and I'm sure that everyone who goes will have a really fun time. I will be very jealous, I'm sure, while everyone is camping that weekend. :)

A comment from someone about the show? Or something else ?

Doc, you're smart, choose for me.

I understand the worry that it won't be the best performance you ever saw. I'm willing to be that it won't be. Festivals and festival crowds often suck. This has a sideshow which will probably be better.

I think that you should assume that it won't be the best Beastie Boys performance you've ever seen, but that the overall experience will make up for that, and there will be many great people to share it with.

I think that the crowd does a major part of influencing me if a show is good. I was front row in Santa Cruz with a couple of hundred people and didn't love it as much as the SF show at the Bill Graham Civic with a few thousand people. The three other shows were with 'ok' crowds, so I could go either way. I figure Sasquatch will be the same.

I'm just looking forward to a great weekend of beautiful scenery (12 hour drive each way), camping, friends and good music.
