Johnny Cash's rendition of NIN's "Hurt" doesn't exactly bring me to tears, but I get quite solemn when I hear it. It's quite powerful.
Also, while beautiful and perhaps Beck's best album (in my opinion), I can't help but get a bit melancholy while listening to Sea Change.

Honest to god the only song that has ever made me cry is 'My Little Girl' by Tim McGraw. Im not even that big into country, but when I hear it it makes me think of my uncle and It just gets to me.

Yeah...an old thread.
Whatever.
Well, Bittersweet Symphony depressed me a lot too. I like a lot this song but I think that violin thing makes me sad. :o

Same here, Cash brings a deep feeling to the song that I don't think barely any other performer has managed to do.

Eleanor Rigby pretty much always fills me with deep feelings of despair.

i thought writing out my list again would be silly, so i linked to a thread where i already wrote a list of 30 songs or so  its not that old either...
drugs don't work is sadder then bittersweet symphony imo. i sort of feel uplifted by bittersweet symphony.

lotta good ones here......
i'm gonna go with "Father and Son" by Cat Stevens, though his whole "Tea For the Tillerman" album really wrenches my soul. a very sad record, but thoughtful and therapeautic.
surprised no one's dropped the obvious" "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mack. a cliche drop, but you can't deny it.
