if she put as much effort into lifting as she does into nagging me she'd be fucking wonder woman....(not having sex with her, just real strong.)

what sucks is that my lease here ends july 31st, and the new place doesnt let me move in till august 20th.

so i get to move my stuff twice in 3 weeks

probably primarily by myself minus the furniture i bet

ahaha

yeah, I'm glad I met a guy when I was in the middle of moving. I can't lift anything heaver than a good sized box of CD's. And that's just barely.

we have to move house in two weeks time. collecting boxes sucks more balls than the moving process i reckon.

moving is my personal hell. i feel for you.

it is a good time to lighten the load and get rid of shit you dont need. on the bright side, you're new place will probably be much less cluttered

^ yeah, but then reducing the shit you have makes you think you have room for all kinds of shit and you're right back to clutter. and some snotty nerd.

We moved in July and had 9 boxes full of shit packed in a closet that we never got around to unpacking. We finally started sorting through them this week and it took us 3 nights. So then we reduced it to 3 boxes. (y)

But Wednesday I got 5 more boxes from my other place so now we have 5 more boxes to go through. It sucks....big time. So much junk that I can't get rid of. (n)

All you packers make sure to pack the essentials on top in a clearly marked box, so you can get at 'em right away: toilet paper, toothbrush, etc.

jabumbo

since when is toilet paper an "essential"?

How often do you go a day without toilet paper?

things that should be unpacked first (in this order):

risk and/or monopoly
ice box
beer
video games
bed (unless you have a nice couch or plush carpet)
towels

Hire me. I'm cheap.
I have based my marriage on trying to be stronger than my big strong husband and not looking like a girl.
I doubt if he resepcts me any more, but I feel better. People at work ask me to open jars.

I'll not only shift a washing machine by myself, I'll plumb it in too.
He accuses me of turning into Peggy Hill, but I don't care.

But yes, moving house, if only we had back all the money we spent on crap we'd have all the money back.

I really don't like moving, itself, but I love moving into a new place. Feels like possibilities.

If someone's moving and asks for help or I volunteer, I've learned to say for how long I'll help out. One time a friend and I told this woman that we'd help for three hours. Got over to her place and she hadn't even started packing, so she asked if we'd help transport her roommate's stuff. We wound up spending the whole time on the roommate and when it was time to go, the woman got all upset that we hadn't moved any of her stuff.

Sorry!

we can help our weakness.

You probably meant "can't." ;)

And yeah, moving sucks a big one. I had to move with a damaged back, which meant I had to kick all my boxes into my room, which strained my hamstring. YAY!

I still have a few boxes that need to be unpacked. Blah. Maybe tonight. MAYBE.

I could piggy-pack tatum's gf on my back for a good 8 hours, easily

Im the bison-built friend of friends when it comes to moving!

*Smacks you round the heed*

Until moving and handling regulations were stepped up I regularly lifted grown people up all the bleeding time. Still legally can pick up the dead ones, it's the living ones that need special care.

Haha, you did a good job if you don't have to go looking for your stuff, like the USB cable that guarantees your digicam is not jsut a worthless piece of plastic or the wooden instrument you use to scrape the noodles from the bottom of the pot... :(
