View Full Version : My 1st Song
Lex Diamonds

Here's a song which I wrote and recorded in about 3 hours today. The first verse is pretty much all my thoughts and feelings about life, I've been living alone for about a week and just split up with my girlfriend, getting in trouble at college, etc. The second verse I just tried to make as much shit rhyme as I could. I've never made a song or even MC'ed properly before apart from a bit of battling/freestyling with friends, so if you've got any criticism, including the "constructive" kind, shove it up your ass. And yeah, I know I've got a shitty mic. And yeah, I know SpitShine isn't the best name I didn't think of it til after I'd made the song and didn't take long over it.
Without further ado. (http://www.sendspace.com/file/5ld5a8)
Lyrics (I even added the adlibs in after cuz I'm cool like that):
Think About It
To the best of my knowledge I’m invincible
But when I’m next in college I need to see the principal
No shit, I’m not joking, all this from pot smoking
Bad grades, few friends, girls think I’m soft spoken
Though I got nothing to say, consider running away
But fuck it I stay, and try and come in the game
Nothing to do but seem cunning to you
Humming a tune, high like the sun and the moon
I contemplate past events as time leads
By from today, laziness defines me
Main problems my inabilities to focus
On anything other than love or drink and soft drugs
It’s all new to me, it usually confuses me
How friends can change every day and start abusing me
So I sit here and drink beer and write rhymes
Spit clear to pierce the fear in my life time
Deliver a message, lessenin’ the pressure
With friendship respect and love for good measure
Open up through music, stay calm in real life
No time for fools their closed minds don’t feel mine
Cuz what I say rings true to every one of us
There’s those who admit it, and dickheads who make fun of us
I know what you’re thinking now
“That was a bit serious wasn’t it? What’s he on about there? Weirdo.
All that shit about love and respect, it’s bollocks mate.”
Listen to this
Pure skills
I rap actual facts and that’s never wrong
Keep goin and showin my flow on every song
I’m so skilled the flow’s ill with no frills in
I’m cold killin’ like snow chillin’ with no feelin’
I’m no villain but still bad I kill fads see
Fill bags with weed chill and bill fatties
You can’t stand me I’m the man your girl fancies
Finds me on Myspace and harass-es
I get high and write sick lines
So bright when I spit mine just call me SpitShine
I sting like bees while MCs bite like crocodiles
Cling to me while I freestyle you copy rhymes
It’s like it’s not right how I write a hot line
Next day your best mate bragging ‘bout he got rhymes
I could make a mixtape, sell it 3 pound 50
Ten years later goes for fifty quid on e-bay
I’m that saviour, savour the flavour,
I gotta go, laters
sorry for the dangerous behaviour…. safe yeah?

Yeah, you seriously like it? Cuz I spent so long recording it I don't even know if it's good any more. I'm quite proud of the line "Nothing to do but try and seem cunning to you, humming a tune, high like the sun and the moon" though. :)(y)

Despite the fact that I dislike you and the way you attempt to talk down to me, I'll give you some honest opinon about this:
I think your lyrics are very good and you flow quite well. Your track is pretty bitchin and I like the beat and everything comes together quite nicely.
However, whatever you recorded your lyrics on is dogshit and sometimes the flow of the song is ruined by the 'p's, 'f's and 'b's, but that's not really your fault.
I think if you recorded this over and over again until you got the speed and made it clearer it would be a pretty damn good song, I liked it.
The name is fine, too.

Don't know if I am but if I get mostly positive responses then I might make another one soon... it really didn't take me long, I just wrote and recorded it cuz I was bored. Plus like I said I've got a lot on my mind at the moment and that's what the first verse is about. I DO actually have to go and see the principal at college tomorrow because of bad grades and poor attendance due to weed smoking. :(
Thanks for the positive comments they make me feel happy. :)

Serious man this mic is a joke... it's one of those that used to come free with computers around 5 or 6 years ago. Probably the worst recording equipment you could find.
Beat's a Primo instrumental... Invincible by CNN. If you notice I put a little reference in the first line for the heads that recognise it. (y)

doesn't matter........i used a $5 mic and a $50 stereo to record a few trax off of H20....then i snail mailed the audio on cassette to mcduff and zap.....then they hooked it up nice.....thats hiphop bro.....hookin the turntables up to the telephone poles!
anyways you gotta unique voice....step into a real studio!
Nice but yeah, like you said, new mic needed :) I added you to my music myspace

oh shit:eek:
your mic gets fucked here & there but thats the crappy mic's fault i assume, i actually liked it, i mostly liked how your lyrics are said clearly no mumbling or no weird southern (or british in your case) lingo that i can't understand. the beat kinda reminded me of MC Lyte's "Poor Georgie" just a little bit.
basically thats was dope paddy(y)

Hahaha, your voice! Funny ass shit. Overall though, not that bad, you're quite good at rapping, good flow at least. I generally can't stand English accents, but that's not your fault. Get a good mic and record some more shit. Nice shit.

If im not feeling inspired, I'll usually smoke up and have my guitar next to me as well as my recorder. When that first thought gets in my head, I'll record it so it doesnt vanish and then progress.
Paddy, watch some movies or something. You can find inspiration and it isnt easy but you can.
