This has the potential to be really great, or really shit. I can't believe Zombie is capable of ruining such a classic, so I'm leaning towards great at this point.

I'm hopeful. I enjoy Rob's directorial style and storytelling.
yeah, when i saw these previews, i actually thought it might be good. first time ever for such a classic remake.

I really, really hope it's good. I love the original.
I have yet to see any of Rob Zombies movies, though.

i cannot believe you people are looking forward to this.
The original Halloween is a masterpiece; its one of the best put together films ever. To even consider remaking it is retarded, and on top of that the changes he's making go completely against what made the original great. Zombie has said he's going to explore the origins of what made Myer's turn into a killer, the beauty of the original was that this was a mystery. To make Myer's anything more than a shadowy, peripheral figure will completely ruin the whole story line.
Plus, add to the fact that the trailer was a bunch of heavy-voice, flash-slam cut, nu-horror nonsense and you have a recipe for disaster. I suppose im biased in that Halloween is my all time favourite film, and i think it simply shouldn't be touched.
Some of the shots looked promising - the scenes of peril, but you cant really tell cause it was cut so fast. Zombie claims to be a horror fanatic, if he really was he wouldn't have touched this with a barge pole.
Sacrilege.

Man you can't have another Jamie Lee Curtis in that movie. Where you gonna find another butterface like that straight headed ho? I rest my case.

I really don't have high expectations at all for this... as a matter of fact, I expect it to suck. Horribly. I haven't seen a Rob Zombie movie I've even mildly enjoyed, so I'm really expecting this to blow.
Having said that, I know I'll be in the theatre on the opening day just because I am such a fan of the original series. I'll admit I don't have any faith in Rob Zombie at all to make this any good... but I'm open to being pleasantly surprised.

^ I agree with Scary. I dont HATE Rob Zombie, I loved house of 1000 corpses, but I dont expect this to be very good. Theres just something about remaking a classic that gets me a bit uneasy. Look at House on Haunted Hill, The hills have eyes, House of Wax...

I liked the first Halloween, but I thought that much like Rocky and Jaws, it was severly cheapened by piss poor sequels. It will be hard to match the genious of the original. If he gets too bloody or gory it will suck. The great thing about the original was the suspense, and Meyers popping up when you least expected him.

Rob Zombie wasn't involved with any of them.

I never said he was, but the point is I cant think of one sequal that has been even a little bit good, and like stated above - Halloween is a classic that doesnt need to be tampered with. Whats next? Nightmare on Elm Street? I'll bet you a hundred bucks it'll be Friday the 13th. Theres already a million sequals to those movies, why not leave them alone?
And I dont think Rob Zombie is a very good choice for director of this film - as much as I loved HO1C, Devils Rejects kinda made me loose faith in him. Its gonna be gore, gore and more gore with a lots of porn thrown in. I know that appeals to a lot of people - but not when it comes to Halloween.

I kinda want to see it. The trailer doesn't look so bad, but in one of the scenes it looks like Michael is having trouble putting on the mask, it doesn't look pro.
