What's most fishy to me is that (if this is the image the admins deleted, I didn't get to see them myself but it matches what I got to read) they were deleted as "a lame joke". If the joke was lame before, it must be paralyzed now.

BTW, where is "somewhere on the internet" exactly?

Does anyone recognize any references to other album covers? I'm not really digin' this one; I hope this isn't it. I hate the color maroon, but it is cheesey and that's their M.O.

And that album title...?

I don't think that's even remotely possible. The string of numbers is just 1-9 from left to right and back to the left with spaces in between each successive number [1(9)2(8)3(7)4(6)5].

It's possible that the cover art is accurate, and the numbers are just a filler for the name of the new album (Sick, anyone?). It's also possible, of course, that this is a scam, but I feel a little out of touch with what's going on with them lately so I probably wouldn't trust myself to recognize the difference.

Maybe you've never heard of Frank Zappa's Instrumental album "Jazz from Hell" and his battles with the RIAA.

Instrumental (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazz_from_Hell) doesn't mean it cant be slapped with an advisory warning.

Did you finish reading the Wiki? Zappa's album wasn't stickered because the drums were offensive, it got the sticker because the title of one of the tracks was "G-Spot Tornado."

Did you finish reading the Wiki? Zappa's album wasn't stickered because the drums were offensive, it got the sticker because the title of one of the tracks was "G-Spot Tornado."

The story behind it goes like this,

Zappa testified at the senate hearings in 1985 in which Tipper Gore and the RIAA were trying to get the Government to put the "Parental Advisory Labels" on whatever album the RIAA chose as having offensive content. Zappa was one of the more outspoken artists against it. Here's a quote from his statement to congress:

"The PMRC proposal is an ill-conceived piece of nonsense which fails to deliver any real benefits to children, infringes the civil liberties of people who are not children, and promises to keep the courts busy for years dealing with the interpretational and enforcemental problems inherent in the proposal's design. It is my understanding that, in law, First Amendment issues are decided with a preference for the least restrictive alternative. In this context, the PMRC's demands are the equivalent of treating dandruff by decapitation. (...) The establishment of a rating system, voluntary or otherwise, opens the door to an endless parade of moral quality control programs based on things certain Christians do not like. What if the next bunch of Washington wives demands a large yellow "J" on all material written or performed by Jews, in order to save helpless children from exposure to concealed Zionist doctrine?"

The RIAA was determined to slap the Parental Advisory Label on Zappa's next album. He trumped them by intentionally releasing an Instrumental Album that they still choose to label, thus proving that they didn't even listen to the content of the music, they just wanted to arbitrarily put the parental advisory label on artists they choose to be offensive.

Considering The Beasties political opinions about Bush, I wouldn't be shocked to see them face some similar discrimination.

Considering The Beasties political opinions about Bush, I wouldn't be shocked to see them face some similar discrimination.

The only way they were able to get away with putting the parental advisory sticker on Zappa's album was because he named one of his songs "G-Spot Tornado." If he had named the same song something entirely different, they could not have put the sticker on no matter how determined they might have been to spite him for his testimony. Those things cannot just be thrown onto any album at the will and whim of whatever Board is currently in charge of reviewing music for offensive content. And, if they tried to sticker an entirely instrumental album, with titles that aren't even arguably offensive, purely because of the political stance of the artists, the First Amendment prohibition against viewpoint discrimination would kick in faster than you can say Zappa's overrated.

The word "G-spot" is offensive to children? Like the average kid even knows what that is.

If they didn't have the "G-spot" excuse, I'm willing to bet it still would have been tagged with the warning label. It was all about polotics.

Let's hope the Beasties don't use any "offensive" terms in the title of any of their songs, whatever that means..."offensive"
