I just got back from Rome :) My birthday present from mr.p.

The old ruin-y bits are quite cool.

The Vatican is a bit bollocks though.

Hotel Duca d'Alba (http://www.hotelducadalba.com/MAIN-ENGL/main.html)

It was very nice, the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful, really lovely people and in a great location - it was incredibly convenient, pretty much everything we wanted to go see was within walking distance except the Vatican, but as the hotel was just steps from the Cavour Metro stop it was easy enough to get there too.

Right next door there was a fantastic restaurant called La Cicala e la Formica; mr.p and I ate there 3 out of the 4 nights we were there. Which sounds a bit boring I know BUT first of all, it was so good, I could eat there every day until I day, and secondly, we could put the baby to bed in the room and then take the baby monitor down with us and have a meal together JUST THE TWO OF US and eat and talk and enjoy a glass of wine LIKE GROWN UPS which was quite bloody brilliant, actually.
