Your hopes?

I think they could slide a cover or two in there, quite easily. Also, maybe a hardcore song? If Fredo played the drums (presuming they don't use AWOL for that anymore)?

I think opening with Gratitude was an awesome idea on those recent shows. Maybe they could keep doing that. If there's going to be vocals. I liked on the live version of Gratitude on the Sabotage VHS how it looks like the house lights are only lifting on Yauch as he warms the song up, and then the whole thing kicks in with the song. Perhaps something a little dramatic and dynamic around the music this time out.

I wonder if they would close with Sabotage at a Gala Event? If not, Gratitude would be great choice.

They'll probably be rockin' the nice suits. Yauch will have the upright for a few songs. I wonder if MMM will provide any scratching services during the Gala Event?

I'd like to see a Fredo/Mike drum solo.

And they should make it interactive with some audience requests. A few covers would be fun.

I mean, they'll be pushing shit uphill to make it really exciting for a majority of crowds.

I'm gonna have a completely different set of expectations at a Gala Event Instrumental Concert.

I expect it to be a laid back jam session. Similar to the old Ricky-shot CYH jam sessions. It'll be a different vibe than the hip hop sets.

And if they perform double-gigs in some cities. With instrumental nights and hiphop nights...then it'll be twice as nice.

i gotta be honest with myself and say that if this was an all punk record, i wouldn't be down......but i could understand some fans being excited over it....but i can't comprehend how people are getting excited over an instrumental record (no vocals at all) and shows.....quasar only played small rooms.......and i feel (in the u.s.) the instrumental shows will be the same type deal.....

what, did they fire Michael Diamond?

"I got the kung fu grip on my green trap kit..."

cj: who said there are no vocals at all? that is pure speculation

He means when Amery used to take the drums on the hardcore songs while Mike to the Mic.

Fredo could cover the hardcore drumming duties.

Because people are into their other styles. A lot of people light up during Lighten Up. What made CYH so great wasn't the 7 or 8 hiphop songs...it was the punk and funk and rock.

This record may be the punk and funk and rock minus the hiphop. But we don't know yet.

I'll probably see an instrumental show just to say I did it.

On the bright side, maybe the crowd will finally be quiet enough, and small enough, for me to hear their funny comments.

Sweet! The two BS2000 shows I saw were at packed clubs. But if it's gonna just be the Doc, janitor and me then all the better.

So why should fans not be exited about a full instrumental album??? that's bullshit! i'm verry excited about a full instrumental show im not only into hip hop like you... and a lot of fans are not only into hip hop but like their instrumental stuff to.

Not necessarily. Album sales sucked on PB. And that's one of the reasons there was no tour for PB.

I bet most of the small lounge gigs are gonna sell pretty well.

Now why do you have to go and resort to a personal insult. I can debate, discuss, and disagree without throwing shit.

I'll be the first to admit that I prefer their hiphop over the punk and instrumental stuff. But I'm very interested to see and hear their new material and how they pull it off.

Diverse view? Please explain that to me. I've always thought my appreciation of the Beasties covers a pretty diverse scope of styles. I have my favorites and dislikes, but I can dig what they try to do.

You're the one who seems to have a pretty narrow view on the subject.

I shared my thoughts on how I'd like to see the Gala Events go down, which is the topic of this thread. Given the fact that there will be some Instrumental Concerts, what are your hopes? What would you like to see?

seriously, though, is it better to have the most negative viewpoint or to have an open mind?

someone is stuck in 1989!

I am stuck in 1989 -- I have to send these messages through a time machine portal (patent 698032azx). Unfortunately it cannot teleport whole bodies just text messages.

Please save me from this world of 1989 controlled by the big hair brigade.

On second thought forget rescuing me - 89 rules dude, party on! Especially when quaffs were held firm with authentic 80's ozone-depleting hairspray.

Although wish I was trapped in the 70's with The Slits:

You automatically like things. That's not very objective.

I'm not attacking anybodys right to like things. But there's still the same level of perceived narrow-mindedness behind blind loyalty.

I automatically like things I havent even heard yet? that doesnt make much sense...

I have high expectations, and high anticipation... and so far they have delivered every time...

I actually dont care for most of the hardcore stuff... I havent seen them play their hardcore songs live since 1998, and none of the performances really stick out in my memory bank... I may have seen AWOL on drums and not even known it... apparently Alfredo joined during the In The Round Tour, but I learned about him in '04...

I'm always up for new ideas in all aspects of life... otherwise, shit gets stale

I am really excited about entering a concert hall to see/listen to the Boys get hot on the instruments!
Musically speaking, hope the sound will be quality, I expect a very good vibe with super stylish scene.

My concerts journey starts tonight with Lalo Schifrin and orchestra, I hope they'll keep it up as much as they can.:)

I caught $mark in a few small joints in Detroit and though they were not packed by any means, they were some of the coolest/laid-back shows I've been to. It was more packed but same w/the bs2000 show.

Seriously though, how fu<kin' sweet was it when they busted out the intrumental set last tour.

They closed the gala event in lisbon with Sabotage as well as the festival in the night before.
The gala´s event turned out to be amazing, im telling you i digged much more the gala event than the festival, in fact the combination of two is perfect, you get the festival vibe and them the intimacy.
In the gala Adrock event rocked a walking stick from one of the fans on stage, with his hat and nice suit!

Im seeing them tonight in Sonar as well, i goin alone but i dont even care!
