Beastie Boys. Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Bjork. The Who. Muse. Arctic Monkeys...

When did festivals become so uniform around the world? It's a right ball-ache.

I'm planning to go to roskilde for the first time this year. I just hope I can get some people to go with me. There's so many great names and also lesser known names that I want to discover.
Oh and the whole thing lasts 8 days! (including pre-party. The actual festival is 4 days.)

Omg I want it to be July already!

there's a great festival in Hungary that literally runs for 8 days. it's on an island in the middle of the Danube in the middle of Budapest. Sziget. (http://www.sziget.hu/festival_english)

Yeah I've heard of Sziget and apparently it's beautiful there and the ticket and food are cheap. You can also plant your tent anywhere you want, even right next to the stage. Coolness.
Only thing putting me off it is that an awful lot of stuff gets stolen there or tents get set on fire. And it's quite a long way away too.

Is there a festival where Red Hot Chili Peppers are NOT playing? I didn't have to click this thread and I knew they'd be playing.

I was there in 2002, it's an amazing festival. stuff only gets stolen if you leave it lying around. if you put your digital camera away then it's usually alright.

I know a dude who's tent got totally plundered. He had his expensive things with him, but they stole all his clothes and he had to buy everything new there. He's going again this year though, so the festival must be really worth it.

i checked my account the other day and found out that i owe twice as much as i thought i did. but i could still buy a ticket for Roskilde, i bought a ticket which includes a limited edition tent with it and it should be pitched ready for when i get there and i can get free hot showers with this ticket, thank god, and i get to keep the tent when the festival is over. i could've borrowed my friend's tent but i'd hate for anything to happen to it because it doesn't belong to me, so this way is better.

i got my ticket and booked my flight. now i need to get myself a torch, sleeping bag and one of those plastic things that keeps the rain off (i don't know what they're called).

i also got myself a ticket for the O2 Wireless festival (http://www.wirelessfestival.co.uk/london/line_up.asp). i'll be there on the saturday, Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem, Klaxons, CSS, Plan B, Calvin Harris, New Young Pony Club. i wish Mark Ronson was playing on the saturday and not friday.

these two festivals make my festival count go up to 4 this year. i already had tickets for Get Loaded In The Park and a day (saturday) ticket for Reading festival, both in August.

i've never seen RHCP live, so i'm looking forward to it, hopefully they'll play some old tunes in their set too because other than a couple of songs, i'm not that familiar with their newer stuff.
That O2 line-up looks pretty safe!
