I know this shouldn't go here but I need to vent...

I got a call about 9:15am today asking if I worked with someone, I said yes and was then informed very matter of factly that that co-worker was dead and how do they get in touch with her mom...

Very abrupt, so hesitation or sense of dispair. So of course me being the concerned type I asked for his name and number and what happened. He says there was a fire and she got trapped and died.

So at this point I am angry, upset, sad, and confused. Is this real? Is this some kind of sick joke? What the hell is going on? ect.

While speaking with human resources and my manager trying to figure out what to do next I get a call from a desk manager here stating they were just on the phone with a Homicide detective... and that they needed to know if we had any next of kin info. So now we're really freaking out but thinking maybe this was a bad joke, not wanting to belive it.

I just got off the phone with the Coroners office here in Las Vegas asking for the mother by name, I informed him she didn't work here but that it's odd they call since we had a detective calling and telling us our co-worker was dead. When he asked the name the line went silent and he realised he made a horrible error. That's the name of the victim he was trying to find the mother of.

He of course if obligated to not tell me anything, but after he could tell I was sincere he offered that yes there was a fire but that was not how she died and that her baby was okay but the boyfriend was in custody and that the person who called me was being sought.

This is the first time I have gotten to know someone fairly well, even in just the last two months that has died. Much less the victim of a murder. I don't even know how to cope with this news right now...

I think what TAL said is right. Shit... I mean... Wow...

I've never had someone in my life be murdered so I can't say I know what you are going through. I do, however, know what it's like to have someone in my life taken away completely unexpected. It's like an emotional sucker punch to the gut.(n)

I'm very sorry that this happened. Did you know her boyfriend?

The thing in the boyfriend was a total sweetheart (on the surface). I don't know how many times I told her "he's a keeper."

I interviewed and hand selected this girl to work for us. She fit into our office really well and she was just finding her groove at her job. I'm shocked and I don't know what to do or say. I've been in a daze all day.

The ironic thing is that she had "Trust No Man" tattooed across her lower back.

i've had a really good friend murdered as a result of a carjacking. and i've had 2 clients murdered. they're all shocking. but i really don't know how to respond. it's easier to respond to the nipple piercings than it is to tragedies.

So it's been a rough weekend, seems a lot of my co-workers saw the news flas later that night but I missed it.

As far as the news was saying, the boyfriend/fiance hit her with something causing blunt force trauma to the head and then set the home on fire. The Police and Ambulance arrives and on the way to the hospital is when she passed... That means she had to suffer through being clubbed by this bag of shit and then being set on fire.

The story supposedly ended with them showing her boyfriend being taken into custody and if it wasn't for my coworkers meeting and knowing him too we wouldn't of known who it was.

I guess sometime this week my office is going to start a memorial fund for the daughter.

She would normally come in at 9 today and I still feel like she's going to walk through the door.

We just had a visit from the girl's Mother, Sisters, and Friends to gather her things and let us start the process of getting a Trust fund set up for the girl.

Today's a damn fine day to call your loved ones or just give them a big hug.

domestic violence sucks, is all i can say.

"In England and Wales, between one and two women are killed by a violent partner or ex-partner every week." it's in print, so it must be true. i don't know about scotland or northern ireland tho.

shocking and horrible, all of it. (n) :( (n)
