i realized i really like these guys, but i don't have any of their albums, and i really don't know where to start.
so what are your suggestions for an album i should pick up?

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots or whatever it's called. As a concept album it's very well done, and there isn't really a song on there that's bad.

I've only heard Yoshimi but it's amazing so definitely pick it up.

Fuck Yoshimi. The Soft Bulletin, Clouds Taste Metallic, and Transmissions from the Satellite Heart are all safe bets. You can't go wrong with those.

i'd say The Soft Bulletin
It's the one I listen to a lot. It's quite use friendly. :) I have no idea whether it's the best place to start.
If you're interested in the band at all, you should check out the documentary about them that was made a few year ago. I think it would be interesting even if you don't love the band.

If you find yourself reaaaaaally getting into them, get "Finally The Punk Rockers Are Taking Acid" and "The Day They Shot A Hole In The Jesus Egg" (they compile their 80's stuff with rarities). It's uneven, for sure, but it's interesting stuff.

I have both Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi and I actually find The Soft Bulletin much more accessible. That's my vote.

i have both of those too, and that was just what i remembered getting into first. i really need to get some of their other works.

if all goes right i'll get to see thiem this summer, and i'm sure i'll get to take note on any times i particularly like. but i definitely want to get something before then.
