Well, i just ate some sushi for the first time 2 days ago,I know, i am kinda retard and not up to date, oh well, better later then never!! Anyway, it was freaking good!! First time i try them, one year ago ,it was from a grocery store, super yukky!

But fresh, yes, good stuff!!

I try one call the yin-yang, and you have the symbol in the sushi:

TUNA, SALMON, GARLIC SPROUT
WITH SHISO SESAME SAUCE

The other one , kamikase:
FISH, CUCUMBER, TEMPURA, CAVIAR, SPICY SAUCE

And some vegetarian wich were as good!!!

Your sushi experience? Did it take you time to like it or the first time you try, you like them?

hey, no way! i just finished eating sushi, too. it was marks and spencer stuff though, nothing too out there.

i love soy sauce, oh yes. yes i do.

i ate a smoked mackerel californian roll though and almost barfed. thought it was the tuna teriyaki one (DELISH). i HATE mackerel, errgghhh.

bento boxes are for the children.
i'll take #58, please (http://www.ichiban.co.uk/bento.htm).
god, when my flatmate and i discovered we could get bento boxes delivered our takeout expenditure skyrocketed, ugh. expensive but worth it.

The thing I hated most about being pregnant was not being able to eat sushi.

Especially while we were in Japan.

God I love sushi.

I know, I know.:(

Finding out I was pregnant two weeks before the trip totally blew my plans of eating loads of sushi, drinking buckets of sake, and staying out all night in crazy nightclubs all to hell.

Still though I suppose it's better I found out before than after :o Oh and ultimately I did get a rather cute little human out of the deal, so I guess it all evens out in the end.

i didn't really like it at first cos i didn't like the seaweed. but now i found a place with nice seaweed, it isn't chewy at all. i like the vegetable ones which are just carrot, cucumber and avocado and i like to put a tiny bit of wasabi, HEAPS of pickled ginger (funny story - i used to avoid the pickled ginger because it looked like sliced ham to me) and a fair whack of soy.

mmmmm pickled ginger (y)

It's not that you can't eat ANY sushi, more that there's stuff that's safe and stuff that isn't and it's not always easy to tell which is which.

There are two seperate issues. The first is mercury. The larger the fish, the more mercury it will have accumulated (since it is higher on the food chain and mercury is not excreted). It's not a problem for adults, but for the developing brain of a baby, it's quite dangerous. So pregnant women need to avoid large quantities of any bigger fish (such as tuna) in sushi or otherwise prepared, cooked or raw.

The second is worms and/or bacterial contamination, which is obviously not good for anybody, but there are 'bugs' which will pass though an adult's system quite easily wth maybe just a hint of indigestion, but for a developing foetus could be deadly. Fish that's been frozen or cooked is not a problem, but fresh fish can be. 99% of the time if it's been properly handled it's probably fine, but when you're carrying a baby, you might not want to risk that 1%, you know? So you minimise your intake to minimise your risk, basically.

the dr and i had sushi tonight at one of our favorite places. he had the dynamite roll and the spicy octopus roll, and i had the rock and roll and the mexican roll.

he makes fun of my sushi choices. i pretend like i don't care, but sometimes it seems offensive.

I only eat vegetarian sushi, there's one really good one at my closest shopping center actually. And at Ichiban in the city they've got some nice vegetarian sushi as well.

Boy, I had some AWESOME sushi Monday. Took the day off on a spur of the moment thing and went lunch at a new place that's, like, seven blocks from my apartment.

Really great sushi. I had a roll that was pretty nuts -- about five kinds of fish plus spicy sauce, but it all worked.

Place was fucking expensive, though. With tip for just me it was almost $38.

Whoa.

I don't understand veggie sushi. I also can't believe that some places put fake cooked crab in it.

I've always found that terrific sushi is expensive. And when I travel to a place with more sushi options, I always seem to be with someone who doesn't like sushi.

Around here, you can have a full meal of really good sushi for about $20 and up, if you include the tip. There's also a mediocre place downtown starting at about $8 and up, if you want to actually get full of sushi (and not teriyaki chicken or whatever). But that stuff is barely a step above Trader Joe's.
