Two-time Academy Award nominee Edward Norton has signed on to play Bruce Banner, who transforms into Marvel's renowned, larger-than-life Super Hero, The Hulk in Marvel Studios' action-packed, new big screen adaptation of The Incredible Hulk. The film, which is being directed by Louis Leterrier and distributed by Universal Pictures, is scheduled to smash into theaters on June 13, 2008.
"Edward Norton is a rare talent and one of the most versatile actors in the business. His ability to transform into a particular role makes him the ideal choice to take on the character of Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Edward is perfectly suited to bring one of the most popular and important Marvel icons to the big screen in a new and exciting way," said Kevin Feige, President of Production, Marvel Studios.
Under the visionary direction of Louis Leterrier (Transporter 2, Unleashed), The Incredible Hulk will return to the roots of the long-running comic series and television show.
The story unfolds when the pursuit for The Hulk - the world's most misunderstood, primal force of fury - heats up, finding Bruce Banner on the run attempting to cure his condition before his pursuers capture him.
Edward Norton is widely recognized as one of Hollywood's most multifaceted actors. Having appeared in more than 20 films to date, he has garnered numerous accolades, including two Academy Award nominations. He received a Best Actor nod for his portrayal of a former Neo-Nazi in American History X, as well as Supporting Actor recognition for his role opposite Richard Gere in Primal Fear. He will next been seen in Pride and Glory (co-starring Colin Farrell). Other film credits include: Fight Club, The Painted Veil, The Illusionist, The Score, 25th Hour, Frida, Death to Smoochy, and The People vs. Larry Flynt.
Filming is slated to begin in Toronto this summer.
The Incredible Hulk film is being produced by Avi Arad, Gale Anne Hurd and Kevin Feige and will be executive produced by Jim Van Wyck, David Maisel, Ari Arad and Stan Lee. Norton is represented by Brian Swardstrom of Endeavor.
Universal Pictures will distribute the film domestically and in various international territories.

i remember way back in the before uni internet days i was verily obsessed with fight club (who wasn't?) and i remember asking brodie why edward norton wasn't buffer, and he replied "well, because i don't think all office pencil-pushers are built like brick shithouses". hahaha. i don't know why, but i always remember that whenever i see something on fight club.
he sure as shit buffed up for american history x though, goddamn. CURB STOMP!

Haven't seen either, but the guy has a pitbull/hooliganish name indeed. I like Jason Statham though. He's a man's man. You know like you're kids first name could be Jason Statham McBullwinkle.

hah! i am moving to a different area of glasgow soon, he has a house there. swish!
have you seen trainspotting, joel? i assume so.
you see this scene in the bar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyNjNddUenI) where he goes nuts? that bar, crosslands, it literally just a hop skip and a jump from my flat. across the road. ROUGH AS SHIT. only been in there once, with, i shit you not, a bunch of jugglers. i swear on my mum's life. i thought we were going to get booted out. seems not, they're actually nice people. i wouldn't go in there by, er, myself though. ahhh, glasgow.

Yup I love that movie. A bunch of jugglers? Like people who throw things up in the air and catch them? What's so surprising about that ha ha?
i don't know about you, but it's pretty odd seeing a bunch of people with juggling gear together in a rough-ass pub. they had a unicycle, too. it was sort a mini circus school for students. this is no word of a lie.

04-24-2007, 07:39 AM
Ohh ok they were all dressed up. Ha ha, I was just picturing them dressed as normal people.
well, no, they were dressed as normal people. you don't have to be in costume to practice, hahaha, LOL at this conversation. but COME ON, gimme a break here! they had circus gear with them which is bizarre anyway. juggling pins that you can set fire to and all of that.

You people are insane. I would go insane with all the crazy stuff. Jugglers? That thing that Joel mentions about the person on the disabled bike followed by a dancing homo? Crazy. The craziest thing that ever happended to me was when the bus driver offered me a free ride because the ticket machine was broken.
Oh, and yeah, eric bana.
EDIT: No, eric bana didn't happen to me, I'm just offering my solidarity to him.

Remember seeing any Scottish people in the film? Even in the local grocery store, the staff weren't Scottish. Disgraceful.

Sydney was too polluted for me. I couldn't open my eyes for the stink, so I missed all the crazy stuff.

Well that would be one plus point of landing this particular role.
I'm so glad that this is happening after I head that David Duchovny was to play banner in a straight to dvd sequel. Now that would suck. Shame ang lee isn't back on board.
Lets hope hulk does some quality curb stomping (y)
The Hulk is my favourite comic book movie.
me too, but that's because he is my favorite character.
The editing and screen wipes in that film are amazing.

Chopper was in the paper a few days ago complaining that he is broke. LOL maybe you shouldn't murder a bunch a of people, then. I am yet to see the movie.
But good greif, I hated munich so much. Such a good topic ruined. but I suppose that wasn't Eric Bana's fault. I did like the AK47 shots interwoven with Orgasm near the end. Or maybe I didn't, I can't remember.

i think all the australians who haven't seen chopper should have their citizenship removed from them and given to more worthwhile people like, uh, me.
eric bana really is outstanding in that film. a complete and utter transformation.
i like him because he only does a few movies a year and he sounds like such a nice dude. he is always so amiable and funny in interviews, too. laid back. a cool dude. edit: dammit, i said dude twice. fuckit, i will leave it.
i liked munich very much. DIFFERENCE.

Me. He's a good actor, but I just seriously can't warm up to him. He's got a pinched, rat-like face and in some interviews and commentary he's got more than a whiff of arrogance.
Bleh.

He's getting a really bad rep for insisting on having "creative input" or essentially rewriting script or screenplay's while on the set of every movie he works on.....he's a closet producer/director.....

I've heard read that, too. I wonder how he and Fincher managed to work together?
I think he re-wrote his part in The Score. In the bonus material for Down in the Valley, even with the writer there, he kind of intimates that he "fixed" the script.
I know Salma had him do a re-write of Frida, too.

I read this Hulk film is going to be more light and comic like, but if anything I like it when these things get darker, like with Batman Begins as opposed to earlier Batmans (all except the TV show, which is forgiven for obvious reasons).
As much as I love Ed Norton (which I do :o ) Bill Bixby was the man when it came to appearing troubled and hitchiking to sad piano music.
I sure Mr Norton could do that well (and abcdefz, I think he looks like a little bird, a robin or maybe a sparrow, pinched beaky rather than pinched rat like), I just hope the Hulk retains some depth of sad, desperate character.
Just got me a load of the DVD Hulks off ebay, the one where he works with the Daredevil is fanfreakingtastic.

I think they're going to do it more as a Banner-on-the-run, Banner-the-hunted sort of thing.
I imagine Norton could play Queen Elizabeth beautifully if that's what he set his mind to do, but I'm just not nuts about seeing him take this role. Not that it's Scripture or anything, but I really think they need somebody who's a bit weedier or something.
I liked the directing job Ang Lee did, but the whole pretentious psychobabble blah blah really dragged things down. And the finale has got to be one of the worst ever inflicted on an unsuspecting public. Just horrible.

At first I thought Norton wasn't a good choice, but then I compared these pict (http://perso.orange.fr/encyclopedie.univers.marvel/Rubriques/Etat%20civil/Banner,%20Robert%20Bruce_1.jpg)ures (http://img.search.com/thumb/5/5f/EdwardNortonProfilePic.jpg/220px-EdwardNortonProfilePic.jpg) and I thought "damn!" he still needs a bigger mandible to look like bruce though... and a shorter face... and a better movie.
Now there's geek talk about if Hulk is going to be Green or Grey in the movie. It's like arguing about what color a Dodge Neon is... it's still a Dodge Neon.
roosta
04-26-2007, 01:27 AM
apparently its not a sequel but a "re-boot"cuz everyone thought the Hulk sucked. This must be the first time a film franchise has been restarted so soon after starting, they must really think that they can make money from this!
Oh and yeah, its supposedly based on the TV series, because they found out most people only really knew the Hulk from the telly and the film kind of freaked them out.

Weeeell, technically the grey Hulk (and I'm not talking about the one that was simply printed wrong in his very first appearance against the Toad Men) is a criminally-minded, amoral bouncer in Las Vegas with a wicked intelligence. Green Hulk on the other hand, is either dumb ("Hulk smash puny human!"), brilliant (the one that does or does not change into Bruce Banner) or whatever but a less amoral character.... :D
Oh, I meant that either way the movie is going to suck. ;) Grey Hulk = Mr. Fixit! I know these things, maaaan. olo, internetz.
My advice is to keep him green. Like how roosta mentioned; the tv show. It'd be a good move.
