I don't get comics anymore but my Dad worked for about 20 years on comics like Beano, Dandy, Topper, Oor Wullie, Commando that only UK peeps might know of. Obviously me and my Bro as kids got the full comic selection DC Thomson produced, a week in advance too.

Never got into superhero comics. Tried too.

I don't buy individual titles any more cause I can't afford $6 a book......but I buy collections/anthology's and individual novels a couple of times a month....I wouldn't mind starting 1 new monthly title....ideas?

In the last year I snagged:

"300" Frank Miller
"La Perdida" Jessica Abel
"Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For" Frank Miller
"Ultimate X-Men 13:Magnetic North" Brian Vaughn (I have 1-12)
"Malcolm X: A Graphic Biography" Andrew Helfer
"Universal monsters: Cavalcade of Horror" Eric Powell
"The Goon:Rough Stuff" Dave Stewart

Oh wow. I deliberately don't get pulls so I can just quit whenever I want to.

I pretty much always pickup The Punisher and Walking Dead though.

How 'bout Rex Mundi ?
It's a bit off the mainstream, trades are available and since moving from selfpublished to Image has now snuggled in at Dark Horse.

In a Paris where magic is real and the Catholic Church never lost its political power, one man's quest to solve a murder may lead him to the Holy Grail itself!

Doctor Julien Saunière continues his investigation into the theft of a mysterious medieval scroll, only dimly aware of the forces tugging him to the doorstep of the powerful Duke of Lorraine. Lorraine wants to provoke a massive, globe-spanning war that will soak the world in blood-but why? The answer to that question, a deadly confrontation in the ancient catacombs beneath Paris, and a blasphemous revelation about Judas, Christ's betrayer, all await Julien in this volume of the critically acclaimed series Rex Mundi!

• Mystery, fantasy, history, and horror combine to create this critically acclaimed comic. This is the volume where it all begins for anyone interested in a literary adventure that'll challenge their mind as much as it chills their bones!

• Rex Mundi is the first part of a Dark Horse program being launched with writer Arvid Nelson.

Praise for Rex Mundi:

"What started as a simple murder mystery quickly grew into perhaps the smartest and most thought-provoking political thriller comics readers currently have available to them." --BrokenFrontier.com

"Rex Mundi doesn't play it safe, rewarding the reader with a genuine mystery to be solved that has equally high stakes for anyone daring to venture too close." --iComics.com
--> The last one's no shit there was a code cracking puzzle built into the early issues that was awesome. If you're wondering, no, it's older than the DaVinci code..

I like FABLES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fables_(comic)).

Haven't even gotten the 2nd MELTDOWN... whoops. I'm currently waiting for The Losers TPB.

Y-The Last Man is pretty good.

Oh, yeah, Fables is fun too. I'm following it by *ahem* viewing it with .cbr reader. ;)

Preacher (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preacher_(comic)) has been around a few years but it's still one of the best series ever. Warren Ellis has been trying very hard to be as vulgar.... :D

I just read two whole "Seven Soldiers of Victory" tpb's from Grant Morrison. Everything that guy does is so out there...

It was pretty entertaining to read about subway pirates and a society of lost puritans using zombies for manual labor.

Yup, I haven't checked out any yet. But I'll be getting the first issue of "Gamekeeper" next month. It's written by Guy Ritchie, no less. I hear he has to babysit Madonna's kids while she's kidshopping, eh, adopting, so later issues might arrive a bit later..

Every month I usually pick up:
(The ones in bold are the ones that if you read comics, you should be reading, no exceptions)

Astonishing X-Men
Amazing Spider-Man
The New Avengers
Army of Darkness/Marvel Zombies
Runaways
Thunderbolts
All-Star Superman
Buffy Season 8

and once this World War Hulk stuff starts up just about every Marvel book on the subject.

That's gonna be a whole seeing how Marvel spread out Civil War. I don't really like those über-x-overs too much, I dling CW to take a peek at it though. Same with the WWH stuff. I'm still peeved they had "bad ass" Cap beat the Hulk over in Utlimates. Bah. Rubbish!
(y) on the All Star Superman, Morrison is doing some top notch writing there.
