It wasn't a real place until these days. There is a Cafe there named "Paul's Boutique". Check this out.

I took it in May 2005.
It's just a restaurant that has the name because they think it's fun. Or something.

I went outside while the others were eating and leaned against that "One Way" sign and meditated. It kinda felt like I was on some sort of spiritual grounds.

Anyone can Meditate. It is a great way to relieve stress and tension that comes from everyday life.

On my first trip to NYC in August of 1992 I found the PB corner and it looked just like it did in '89.
I used to have a scanned pic and sent to SirDan. He had a chronological set pics of the PB corner.
I searched for it but the link doesn't work anymore.

You can also check out Orchard street below Rivington for a last glimpse at what Ludlow used to really look like when it was all junky looking shops packed floor to ceiling with dusty old clothes, dead stock and seconds.
I wouldn't go running to Paul's Boutique: The Cafe.... they actually opened the place under another name, and changed the name back after a year or two. That was early on in the gentrification of the Lower East Side, so if it was a tribute to the old neighborhood, it was kind of a sad one...and if they were trying to cash in on the Beasties name...well that's even sadder. That said, it's a pretty mellow place.

I went to the PB Cafe in October. I had a pretty decent cup of coffee while some other bbmbers ate. It's pretty much a tiny hole in the wall with the smallest bathroom I've ever seen. Seriously.
sorry for bumping such an old thread..
i've recently uploaded some flicks of the area from 2001,no 99 rivington tho

It's widely believed to be the crossing from party raps to a hipper time sampling various songs, sounds, styles, periods.. even Harry S. Truman is referenced... Whatever.
It was a huge crossing.. that being the move from New York to Los Angeles. A natural progression the boys being the boys . . . well, it's here and it's now and that is back there in our hindsight and it's easy to label it with beer goggles and psychedelic reels of produce sections across the nation.. across the world.
Perhaps the greatest crossing of their career.. arguably.
