Man, fucking chinese food in England fucking sucks. Back home, you get chinese food because it's fast, it's fairly cheap, it tastes great, and it's delivered. Here, it takes fucking forever, it costs a fucking fortune, it's barely fucking edible and half the fucking places you have to go collect it yourself. What is the fucking point in all that?

Proper dim sim is the best chinese food ever. I also like chicken with ginger and spring onion. After working in HK, I've been kind of spoilt by reallly really good chinese food though and now am easily disappointed by the crap served in the UK

General Tso's chicken (fucking delicious. is it always called this, or does each place call it something different, cause i only found it at one place here)
dumplings
egg rolls (i used to eat the filling first, then refill it with rice)

i usually see it as general tso's chicken, but i've seen it at 2 places as "general gau's chicken"...it was basically the same thing, though.

i worry about people who don't eat chinese food!:)
i make it at home, usually the easy stuff like:
shrimp/and or/beef n' broccoli
tofu stir fry
chicken fried rice
i can also make some japanese dishes:
sushi
gyoza
yakisoba
probably a few more recipes that i'm forgetting. anyone can make asian food - chinese is the easiest!
save your bucks and make it homestyle - it's quick, easy, cheap & tastes better.:)

I made some General's for my wife on her birthday. Pretty taste. I've been ordering this Braised Tofu dish which is tofu, cut and ever so slightly deep-fried with some veggies in a brown sauce. Had 'em spice it up last time and it was money.
I have to have Chinese weekly.

was general's chicken hard to make? my daugher loves this. i like braised tofu a lot, it's firm & not to crispy.

It really wasn't hard at all. I just googled the recipe and selected one that looked easy. Sorry I don't remember which one. It was cool because I just put all the sauce ingredients in a jar and shook it like crazy. You pour it in the wok (or skillet, whatever) and you're like, wow, this is pretty watery. A few minutes of heat later and it starts to set up and get thick quick. It was fun.
Edit: After a quick google search, I found the recipe I used. I would suggest making it a little more spicy. It was kinda sweet but still good. http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/462/General_Tsos_Chicken45112.shtml

thanks psh - i appreciate the link.
i want to find a good recipe for this dish, my family would like it. i have a huge binder at home filled with recipes that i've pulled off the internet. it took me four years to make it!
about 90% of what's in that book, are recipes that i've actually made.
this inspires me!

i'll check that other name out.
I bought some Four Hapiness yesterday. It was tasty. Shrimp, crab, chicken, annnnnnnnnd beef, maybe. I cant remember what the fourth meat was. It could have been pork. Anyway, it was good. It complimented my hot and sour soup nicely. The only thing that kinda pissed me off was that I respect the place for not using imitation crab, but fuck man, at least take the shit out of the shell first.
