View Full Version : The Ratio....

Let's really take a look here at what the ratio is of those who are excited and those that are dissapointed. obviously there's much in between, such as "wish there were lyrics, but still glad for the album", "kinda pissed but i'll still buy it", etc. But I'm more interested in the plain in simple, "happy or not happy".

You should make it a poll.

I'm happy for new music, and as long as the Beastie Boys still have their hearts in it, then it should be good

I'm more dissapointed than excited, but I'm still excited if that makes any sense.

I've had a whinge. Oh well. None of us can pretend we're posting on this side for any reason other than to find out.

It makes perfect sense, and I agree with you. I'm somewhere in the middle of these two choices, so I can't vote.

The two choices are black and white. I'm somewhere in the middle but closer to the positive.

I'm excited as all hell that they are continuing to make music and are doing what they love. And that they are continuing to tour.

But...I'm a bigger fan of their hiphop and I will personally miss it on an instrumental album. So there is a little disappointment.

But...If they're gonna do something original like Gala Instrumental Events in small clubs, then that's the coolest thing and I pumped and psyched about that kinda show vibe.

So Three (y) (y) (y) and One (n)

Anyone who is happy BECAUSE it has no lyrics is an assclown.

neither of those options sum it up for me.

can't wait for new album, excited to hear it, but wish it had hip-hop on it.

all i was asking is if you're more excited than dissapointed, or vice versa. can't get a straight answer out y'alls here.

the in between, "excited but wish there was hip-hop" option would defeat the whole purpose of the poll, because i'm sure we all fall in there.

I'm sure they will suprice us in a positive way.

I voted no because those silly "gorgonzola/provolone" lyrics really lighten things up in this dark world. I'll miss a new batch of them.

However, of course I'll 1) buy the album the day it comes out 2) listen to it all summer and 3) go see the show.

See you suckas there too.

now that i think about it, "The Ratio" wouldnt be a bad title to the follow up for "the Mix Up"

well played Brother, well played

What we have hear is:

a) fans like me with a wider taste in music i.e. rock, hip-hop, funk, punk, hardcore, ska - and any new material by the BBoys is welcome be it punk, funk, rock or rap - I like it all.
b) hip-hip fans who only really like hip-hop - they're obviously far more likely to be disappointed by an instrumental album with "more rock on it", as Mike D put it.

Any band should first & foremost make the music they want to make, if people like it, all the better. Otherwise we may as well all go & listen to any old puppet band put together by a label & told what to sing & what to do.

I would love an album with songs like sabotage heat attack man etc on.....as i'm into a lot of genres of music. I also like the little instrumentals the beasties play inbetween tracks to break the album up and to me this is what makes them genuises and provides a well acomplished album.

But if this album is just instrumentals then I think it would be better as a seperate release like Aglio E Aglio O.... before they released an album with a mixture of tracks on it....to me i think Hello Nasty is one of the best albums of all time because of the diversity, its a proper full all aorund album, mostly hip-hop rap with rock, jazz and easy listening on it.

The beasties have never released a full instrumental album before as their next 'official' album release, so its intrgues me whether this is their next album or just something until they release an album with a mixture of rap/hiphop/rock/punk etc in the near future (6 years?).
